I don't understand why people are getting bent out of shape because of the IMAX portions of the blu-ray. They look stunning and the transition is hardly noticeable.

Umm because to me it is very noticeable. I am very irrated at this bluray. This is the best movie on Bluray that I own and has made the worst transition if that makes sense. The sound is horrible as well. The talking parts are really low and the action is really loud. It is like when you watch a TV show and the commercials come on. Usually I wouldn't have picked up on this but I just moved into an apartment and cannot blast it. What a shame this Bluray is. Feel like I pissed money away on a bootleg or something.

Ok unoticable? Not quite. Not sure what your rig looks like but I sit in front (about 4 feet) from a 52 inch wide screen. When it changes you can't miss it. :lol

I noticed it once sitting in front of a 102'' screen and that was because I was looking for it. Afterwards I didn't think about it again, and never noticed it again. Looks and sounds great for me.

See to me it's no different then watching a full screen movie on a 27 inch and then showing certain parts in wide screen. I just don't get it. It really took me out of the movie for some reason. I can understand that some may appreciate it. I still think this a fantastic movie. I just don't understand the thought process of switching ratios every 10 minutes when obviously to some that it is noticeable.

Just to preserve the OAR. For me it was like watching a foreign film. After a bit I forget I'm even reading. I honestly forgot all about it after my initial going in looking for it. It may have had something to do with the fact that I'm in a pitch black room so I don't really see any bars to begin with.

Uh no. They just stop working or reading discs. Trust me, I ran video game store for 5 years and the PS2's were always breaking. PS3 are actually pretty solid but as luck would have it I got the lemon. That's why I always spend the extra and get warranties. Only paid for 1 PS2 and the PS3 is within it's year warranty so I don't have to activate the one I purchased.

Not necessarily a lemon, bro. Mine busted 2 weeks ago while watching Wall-E. The good thing is, it was under warranty and the turn-around time was only a week.

By the way, can anyone please tell me what material are the cowl and Joker's mask made of? I am referring to the ones included in the Best Buy set. They look like vinyl, please correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct sir, and the base is as well.

They did it for standard DVD though. I don't have anything HD yet, but I'm actually fine having standard DVD and eventually getting the TDK BR disc, unless they release a BR copy like the standard DVD. It's cool that they keep the IMAX shots in their full glory, but the rest of the film should have been cut like a fullscreen movie to fall in line with the ration of the IMAX shots or something. With DVD and BR, at least I can watch either consistent ratio or high end picture, whichever I feel like.

Are the extras on the BR anything more than the DVD. I have to say overall, they were pretty weak on the DVD.

Yes, but my point is the DVD cuts off some of the image. This is the case for the TDK DVD release, not Blu-Ray.

You sit 4 feet in front of a 52 inch screen? No wonder you are having problems.

Didn't have time to pick this up today :'(.

Hopefully I can find later in the week. But I won't watch it until I get my 5.1 system next week :D.

Please discuss. I am interested to hear why I am not having problems with any other bluray. Shouldnt be a problem as it is a HD TV.

I won't argue with you. It must come down to personal preference. From what I've read, 4 feet is too close for even my 46 inch TV. :duff

Watching it now. the variable aspect ratio doesnt bother me at all. I actually like it when it goes full screen and still like it when there's letter box.
