I just got back from Best Buy and WalMart, and I'm a bit surprised with my purchases. I went to Best Buy specifically for their exclusive Joker mask collectible w/ Blu-Ray and free Joker card. They didn't have the freebie cards (but they at least knew what I was talking about; apparently they sold out last night), and the Joker mask in the BD set looked to be cheaply made. I debated for about 20 minutes over which version of the film to get, but finally settled on the plain jane Blu-Ray release. The Joker and Batman masks did not look to be worth the extra $15 Best Buy was charging ($39.99 for either set) and the Bat Pod collectible version is so small and would be a pain to display on a shelf with my other DVDs/BDs. Well, I saved money, right? I guess that counts.

Oh, but then I walked into WalMart and saw their exclusive Harvey Dent replica coin and graphic novel set. For $20 the deal was much easier to take. You get the normal widescreen DVD (perfect for me in the immediate future, since I...umm... don't have a Blu-Ray player yet, even though I already bought Wall•E and TDK on BD. :monkey4 I'm hoping Santa brings me a PS3...), the coin and a comic. That will hold me over until I truly upgrade to Blu-Ray.

EDIT: Oh, and Best Buy has the Batman: Gotham Knight anime on sale for $4.99! I couldn't pass that up.

So I spent $50, but I feel I got a better deal with my TDK BD, Gotham Knight DVD, TDK DVD, coin and book than just buying the Joker mask set alone.

And now to introduce the wife to both BB and TDK!

Should go back today, and tell them they forgot to give you a card. You may get a GC for your troubles since it was advertised. But they probably have stacks of cards in the back.

My BB had 52 Joker cards for the whole week. One deck.

Is the Wal-Mart Coin / Graphic Novel in Blu-Ray too or just standard edition? Is the graphic novel decent? I'm debating on using my Best Buy reward points to get the Blu-Ray with Batpod or just buy Wal-MArt Blu-Ray (coin / graphic novel hopefully). The movie is all that matters but the extras are fun to display :D

I just picked up the Best Buy Blu-Ray Exclusive - with the Goon Mask. I passed on the Batpod box set. It looks really nice, but I don't like the fact that the DVD case is attached to the Batpod. If it was a stand-alone piece, I would have bought it.

What sold me on the "Goon" boxed set (other than the "mask") was the fact that the box has been "jokerized," which I thought was a nice touch.

So did anyone ever confirm about the Circuit City Blu-Ray Exclusive. Does it have the Exclusive Joker cover just like their Exclusive DVD 2-disc edition?

*And on another note for all of you PS3 owners, Best Buy has a sale on The Simpsons Video Game for $9.99! I downloaded the demo way back when the movie came out to theaters and while it didn't blow me away, it was fun. I read about it in the Weekly Flyer, so I picked up a copy of the game when I got The Dark Knight. I just wanted to pass the word. I thought it was a really good deal, especially if you're a fan of the show.*

Just got finished watching my Blu Ray version of this, with the sounds cranked way up... WOW! What a picture and what sound, I had 3 knocks at my door asking me to turn it down, and since these were people who decide to wake me up at 7:30am by vacuuming, I told them, "Why so Serious?" No really, I told them to stick it up their azz. A must own for BLU RAY. It's only my 2nd movie purchase, 1st was Incredible Hulk. But man, didn't really notice the IMAX transitions. A must own!!

OK, WTF??!! No commentary track for the movie with either Nolan or Bale?? WTF is that about??!! Maybe the most important films for either of them and they couldn't sit in a room for 2 & 1/2 hours and talk about the movie??!! That blows hard! That's half the reason I even watch movies at home! I wanna hear what the director and/or the cast have to say about their experience when they were making the movie. That seriously dissapoints me. :monkey2 :monkey2

Just picked up my bluray copy, will be watching this after the game tonight.

I wasn't expecting the Batpod to be so small. I went to 3 stores and they were all sold out, then I called Target and the lady on the phone told me we only have one left, I can hold it for you. When I arrived and she handed me the box I was like WTF!!

I was expecting it to be the same size as the Target exclusive Batpod, the toy one.

I also picked up a DVD with a Batman cowl. Didn't know they also had it in Blu-Ray.

Wow, that sucks that the batpod is so small, I ordered mine through amazon and should get it by tomorrow. I also got the impression the batpod looked big. Now i know what to expect when i see it.

Can anyone tell me why it keeps switching ratio's. What a horrible thing if this is not user error or something. I am using the PS3 and whenever the action starts it switches to fillling up the whole tv. When the action is light I can see small black horizontal bars. Anyone else have this going on? Is this actually on purpose?

They also have the 1949 serials on sale for $4.99. Since I already had Gotham Knight, I had to pick the 1949 set up with my Blu-Ray.

I don't get my BR TDK from Amazon till tomorrow but Amazon sent me a free coupon to watch it online! It's good till Dec. 25th! Pretty cool freebie.

I picked up the Target Batmask 2 disc DVD copy and it looks pretty cool though I haven't opened it yet.

The Best Buy I was in had alot of the exclusives left from other movies. Indy and Ironman with the Sidehow busts, Hellboy, so you might want to check them out if you still are in need of one of those.

I have heard that it switches when a certain scene was shot on IMAX film. Its a different aspect ratio. I believe that when it does switch to the IMAX scenes it becomes full screen since the IMAX film is not as wide as the standard widescreen film. That is why i think you are having that issue. I guess its "normal". I have also heard of the blu-ray edition having some audio issues as well :(. I haven't gotten mine yet so I can't confirm this. Also, I believe the DVD edition will have the aspect ratio the same throughout the film so it won't have this switching.

It's intentional. Variable 2.4:1 and 1.78:1 due to some scenes shot with IMAX film for maximum clarity.

The DVD version "cuts off" the IMAX image to fit the 2.4:1 DVD ratio. The thought of the image being cut offputs a bad taste in mouth.

Oh, and for those complaining about the size of the Blu-Ray exclusive Batpod, Target has the Movie Masters Batpod on sale for $14.99 which is about a foot long and FAR superior. I picked up a second earlier today.

It actualy did this at the theater to but most people didn't notice because of the large size of the screen.

That is a great deal. I picked one up on Sunday. I am glad I waited. Hopefully they'll go on clearance that way I can pick up another. My Target has tons of them.

Why couldnt they keep the IMAX version for IMAX and leave the bluray alone with a constant aspect ratio?

I'm watching it again right now. This time I made it interesting by setting the audio on the English descriptive narrative option. It's like a book on tape, with a sexy British lady narrating the events on screen. :rotfl:rotfl

Who knows, perhaps tomorrow I'll watch it in French.:naughty

That would require cutting off the IMAX scenes or making the non-IMAX scenes essentially square :lol
