Going to see it this week. You guys think i'll dig this if i thought BB was the best of the bunch and TDK was a tad overrated?

Ok last petty _____... God DaMN it Nolan you just HAD to go and taint this series with the biggest comic to film cliche of all time... The flaming symbol?? I just about puked on that one...

One of these days I want to see these super heroes setting that big moment up, carefully planting explosives I'n such a crafty way it will create their symbol when exploded. All these superheroes are such artsy crafty little buggers...

Yeah but TDKR did the flaming symbol the best.

I now have a very good idea about what to expect. Thank you gentlemen. Too many questionable people here going to see it three times in two days.

It also depends on what you like more. I love Begins more then TDK. So I liked this one more.

It's funny, I hadn't seen TDK in a while, and after Begins ended, I was excited for it. But then halfway through, it just got dull. Seen it too many times, and whenever The Joker isn't on screen, it's just not that fun.

This movie brought the fun. Which I loved. Had a sense of humor, wasn't so deadly serious, the action was incredible, and the characters were great, I thought.

It also depends if you can separate this Batman from the comics. And since I never read them, nor will plan too, it was easy.

You didn't see it yet bud? Brave man for venturing the spoilers thread.

Yes indeed looks like a lot of fellow freaks I respect share my sentiments.

One thing is for sure though as a superhero trilogy us geeks are fortunate to have something this high calibre to represent us, even with all the horrible crap that happened this weekend in regards to it.

Good minds think alike. :)

At least nothing made me want buy figures. Well maybe Batman.

Agreed. Although I still have the first TDK Batman, and he's fine. No issues whatsoever.

But i wouldn't be against the DX12.

No to anyone else. Just not worth it.

The ONLY issue with Begins is the action. It's awful. But as much as I love action, the characters, and story kept me entertained through out.

However, the first Batman scene is the best Batman scene ever. Hyperbolic yes....but Batman is pretty scary. Which is great,

Honestly I didn't think the action was all that bad. The Molossus sequence was phenomenal. I thought the fight scenes were too congested.

I meant the fight scenes. But even those scenes aren't great. But honestly, I was more into the characters then the action.

The car chase is the best part.

Also, I do hate those two guys in the tower. :lol

But it's Ok. incredibly minor issues to a near perfect film

Anybody remember this line from Ra's in BB.

"The world is too small for a man like Bruce Wayne to simply disappear" :lol
Not if he has what Selina was after all along
the device to wipe away all traces and start fresh
:wink1:

After letting it sink in for a couple of days I'm starting to warm up to the film. It still has a few points though that I really can't get over, mainly the 8 year 'retirement'. It kills the first act and makes it rather unbelievable that he goes from being a cripple to bat-form in such a short time frame, regardless of what kind of wall-kicking prosthesis he may have.

The other main issue I have is the Robin/Blake thing. JGL was great, but with all the grand-standing Nolan and Bale made about how Robin was corny and unbelievable, they shoehorn in their own version of the character anyway and make half the movie about him. Seemed like a cop-out to me.

Other than that, it was good. A few changes and the film would've been great.

I don't like the John Robin Blake reveal either, but I don't think giving a nod to him as Greyson/Todd/Drake would've worked given the backstory Nolan gave to Blake. Fans wouldn't have liked that either. It's better that he's a new Robin altogether rather than a classic one, retooled for this trilogy.

That is definitely true but rhe orphan thing was preserved so with a little more fleshing out they could have wiggled it in closer to one of the comic robins backstories.

Well I loved how it was done. Thing is he gave Blake elements of each of the comic Robins (apart from Damian).

He had the idealism of ____ Grayson, plus the fact that he was a cop as Grayson becomes later on while he's Nightwing.
He had the brashness of Jason Todd
He had a backstory (father killed due to gambling issues) most reminiscent of Drake (and his name rhymed with Tim Drake as well).

I think to simply make his real name Robin was therefore quite apt. The way I interpreted it was that John 'Robin' Blake was the Robin of the Nolanverse, and he would eventually become Batman 2.0, carrying on the everlasting symbol of hope that Wayne established.

Tdk is still great but I thought batman was an afterthought in it but the villains made that film, there was no way bane and catwoman could touch joker and two face both who were portrayed so well.

It's not that either were horrible in this film but they just had horribly impossible standards to go up against.

Well I absolutely loved Bane and Catwoman portrayals.

It's a bit raw right now but I think my current villain rating is (counting CW as a villain just for the rating's sake):

1. Joker
2. Ra's / Catwoman tied
3. Bane
4. Two Face
5. Scarecrow

Even at number 5, I almost have no complaints about Scarecrow either so the standard has been superb right through IMO.

Going back to the topic of flashbacks, I didn't like them in general, but the one with Thomas Wayne was the only one I did like. It was done well.

You didn't see it yet bud? Brave man for venturing the spoilers thread.

I basically figured out the story long before there were official spoilers so it hasn't ruined anything for me so far. In fact, it all seems like it plays out very much as it should.... if you (not you specifically) were paying attention in the first two films it is very obvious where the third was going to have to land.

As Ra's said from the get-go -- a symbol lives forever. That motif was planted throughout BB and TDK. The idea that Batman is much more than a man; he's a symbol... and a symbol never dies.

What truly amazes me here though, is that there are so many crazy Batman fans that dissect the films and organize every item... that will argue with you on every point and intention and scene and color.... and yet these same people are surprised by such obvious moments in the films; brought to tears by something that was telegraphed 7 years ago. Can't see the forest through the trees I guess.

I too think that from what was leaked/suspected and just plain logical storyline wise there were no real big twists here or anything to be spoiled.

As for the amalgam of Robins i definitely picked up on all that but just would have felt better about things if he was one of those guys outright, if even just in name. I know it's fanboyish but it would just sit better with me.

Still trying to figure out what catwoman added to this movie but I definitely think it could have gone worse with her.

Aaaand you haven't seen it yet. :lol

And regardless of what you say, I don't think watching the film is going to have quite the same impact on you now that you know every single plot point :lol

Expecting something to come and seeing it executed to perfection are two very different things :lecture

I wasn't surprised by a whole lot except
1. The fact that Bane actually DID break Batman's back, in true comic fashion
2. Alfred leaving Wayne (crying moment #1) - not at all expected, and the dialogue there is sublime.
3. Alfred's speech at Wayne's grave - incredibly moving (crying moment #2). Did not expect it as I didn't expect Bruce to die, which of course, he ended up not dying.
4. Blake being named Robin (I expected him to be Batman 2.0 though)
5. Talia being the child who escaped the pit

I think Catwoman was a "request" by WB and Nolan did his best to work her in. I imagine she treads somewhere between the aristocracy of Bruce and the low-lying masses of Bane. She's the "middle class"; low beginnings with upward mobility/aspirations.... a maid by day, a stunning sophisticate by night. Of course I'll have to see it to sharpen my view.

Not really. That logic works on repeat viewings only. Most of these kids in here don't know what they've seen until they view it three times.

But of course, its the journey that makes a story, not the destination. So I still want to see it to experience it and see how it plays out in real time.... or over 8 years.

1. Draws Bruce out of retirement - he feels amused and intrigued by her, and he wants to get back out there. Bane being a threat being the other aspect of that.
2. The interplay with her and Bruce and her and Batman is some of the best character work in the entire trilogy. So much goodness there.
3. Provides Bruce someone to be with and move on from Rachel for good.

That's just off the top of my head right now

Brilliant LMfAO!!

It reminds me of how funny I think it is that people are trying to go all imception on the end claiming its Alfred's fantasy even though the whole autopilot line with Fox and the Wayne employee was in there...

And that Nolan needs to cast new actors in his next film.
