I strongly disliked how they COULD'VE put Grayson in it, yet decided not to. It seemed quite easy to place him in it.
First off, he already knew who Batman was. On top of that, they could've skipped his Robin years during the 8 year gap. Since Grayson was a cop in his latter years, why use a random character such as Robin John Blake ?

He could've retired from being Robin after dealing with Bruce's bs during the 8 years. They could've been on non-speaking terms, and made their way back to being partners again (Batman and Nightwing) by the end of the movie.

If anything, the Nolan story could've continued with Batman still leaving, and Nightwing taking over as the protector of Gotham city, or he could've taken on the Batman mantle as he did in the comics.

in the end. WTF is a Robin John Blake? I would've taken ANY real robin over that.

Because explaining all of that adds another 45 minutes onto the movie and as Nolan said, there would be no Robin like the comics. Him giving John Blake "robin" as his real first name was simply fan service.

Absolutely all these no names.. Screw them. I don't care how much you piss those fans off at least do robin a justice. I knew as soon as the rumors hit about his character that Nolan was going to make a more realistic robin. Come on man. So much wasted on that.

Some parts of TDK are superior.

I think the entire TDK segment with the armored truck pursuit, helicopter explosion, Batpod vs. Joker faceoff, semi truck cable flip, Batpod switcheroo on the wall and Gordon reveal adds up to the highlight of the entire trilogy for me. Fantastic action deeply tied to plot and character. The Batman/Joker interrogation is also a big highlight. The climax with the ferries and actual physical confrontation with the Joker doesn't live up to what came before, although the final Two Face scene is tense and harrowing. TDK is a fantastic movie, but not entirely successful as a Batman film because the character is ultimately overshadowed.

I agree I'll be labeled as a fanboy but no lie, I just cant be ok with this weird non robin... The character and the portrayal and Levitt were great.

All it had to be was at the emd when he asks for his bag he does not say his name is "Robin" god... My eyes almost rolled out of my head, he says his birth name was "Richard Grayson" and you just assume "John Blake" was some moniker he created or was given.

Then of the popcorn munching masses don't get it you just simply allude to actual word/name Robin in some other way

I know he said something about what his folks were but I don't think he went into great detail, you could have assumed they were circus performers if you wanted or anything really.

The movie wouldn't need a Robin at all since it takes place 8 years later. He could've had the Nightwing identity either in the works or already active. I would suggest having it in the works since no one saw Batman for years. He could've brought out the Nightwing identity when Batman returned. There's also the possibility of Nightwing being in Bludhaven. They could've 2 had bombs in the movie have Bane Blow up Bludhaven with one of the Bombs since it was destroyed in the comics with something "similar".

Using the name Robin was just fan service, he wasn't actually playing the character Robin, much like there weren't really large alligators in the sewers. They're in there for fun.

I would have really liked to have seen what Nolan could of did with Riddler.

You did see what he would do -- he did it with Joker instead and had no where to go.

You have to admit, though, nothing raises the stakes like a school bus full of orphans.

Toy Story 3 had a train full of troll dolls -- which was brilliant.

I fear the reboot.

Another take might be refreshing. I'd like things to swing back to a bit more fantasy, enough with the CSI: Gotham.

I know that, but there's no need to play with fans and put a character in a movie who could be the real (or original) robin. For that, I salute Nolan with a middle finger.

But if his name is actually ____ Greyson its no longer just an Easter egg it becomes the character he was playing.

That would've been Way better than a knock off character that got a ton of screen time .

Seriously, Nolans part could've been done, and the beginning of a new story with Grayson (and possibly other members of the bat-family) would be perfect. EVEN if a potential Nightwing movie would've failed (i don't think it would though), it would show true growth in the Batman movie mythos. ALL of Batmans sidekicks deserve far more attention than they've recieved. Its time for them to stop ___king around and show how Batman truely has "inspired people".

Okay so I saw The Dark Knight Rises for the second time today. I went last night as well. I saw it again for 2 reasons. First of all it was so good it deserved to be seen again. PERIOD. Especially in IMAX! Second I need another go around to pay closer attention to the finer details. Here's what I can tell you...

The movie is so chaotic during about the last 10 minutes with all the action sequences from scene to scene that I actually missed an important scene the first time around and was more distracted by these scenes that I missed tiny details. Batman lives. That is clear to me now. I thought he died after I saw it for the first time because I missed the scene (even though I was right there watching lol) I missed the scene where Fox is speaking with the techs and they figure out the auto pilot was "patched," which if I recall correctly is the word they used, 6 months or was it 3? Lol earlier by Bruce Wayne. What threw me off is that Batman tells Catwoman before he takes off with the bomb to the ocean is auto pilot does not work. Secondlythat the blast is that of 4 ton nuclear bomb with a blast radius of 6 miles. I figured there's no way he survives. Then I watched very closely the second time around and noticed the last time you see Batman in the cockpit of the Bat is as he's flying over the bridge after he blows up a skyscraper to make clearance. He's still in the Bat at that point. Then you see the Bat flying out to sea. At no point do you see Batman eject which is fine because it sets up the ending without giving it away. Batman told Catwoman there was no auto pilot so that he could fake his own death to finally "start over" as they kept saying in the film. Then Alfred's fantasy comes true as he sees Bruce and Selina Kyle at the restaurant cafe. So Bruce ends up with Catwoman and they both start over. I'm not sure who repaired the bat signal but I believe it was Bruce giving rise to the new dark knight Blake who real legal name is of course... you guessed it! ROBIN! Robin finds the bat cave and he's seen rising at the end. Perfect! I can't believe this will be the end to the trilogy but if it really is its a masterpiece trilogy and was finished to perfection!
Anyone with questions feel free to ask me as its still fresh in my memory and I understand it all from start to finish now. Try and stump me! :lol

And thats the opposite to what I want. Fantasy. 'csi gotham' is Batman. Long halloween, Dark Victory, Black Mirror, Hush, Gothic, Cold Case, under the hood... They all showcase the key thing about batman; Being the dark detective, the 'csi gotham'. Analysing crime scenes, prints, bullets, bullet trajectory, blood and DNA. Using gadgets to get an advantage. Its pure Batman :dunno

Hands down this was my favorite film of the series. Bane was startling to me. Joker was more fun to watch but still a comic book character to me. Bane was so intimidating and imposing that it he was actually scary. And his demeanor was so violent that it felt more real. The fight scenes with him and Bats were the best in the series. Easy to tell what was going on, brutal and nice to look at it. I really liked Catwoman. I always did have in faith in Anne Hathaway but she was even cooler than I thought she'd be. The "twist" caught me by surprise (it shouldn't have), but then the backstory between Bane/Talia kind of got confusing between the two different versions of the story. I like how Batman didn't get overshadowed this time. When he showed up in costume, it was always epic, and he always looked intimidating and ready to kick ass. Great ending. Considering it was Nolan's finale, it was a happier ending than I thought it would be. And I'm okay with that.

I just got back from my second viewing it was much better this time. First time i watched an IMAX movie. After they see how much money this movie makes. They will have no other choice but to make another. Thats why it was left open ended that way

I think most will find it better the second time. Not sure why but I loved it that bit more on my second viewing

Agreed after the second time around I completely fell in love with this movie! Freaking awesome! The Dark Knight Rises! :rock
