Oh of course Batman is Batman and there will be tons of future interpretations - no doubt about that - and who knows maybe someone manages to outdo Nolan's take too

But if the reboot is as close as 2015, I'm not so sure general audience will connect with that so quick

Even Spidey reboot was after 5 yrs and followed a universally panned Spiderman 3

Here you have a movie that most people love (so far) and you're planning to redo it all in 3 yrs time? By the time this comes out on DVD it'll only be like 2 yrs max till we get trailers on the Batman reboot

To me that sounds very risky

PS
I also want the next Batman to be very different from this, more fantastical. It doesn't need to copy what Marvel's doing though - there's not just one way to go about building up to a JLA or shared universe

That will only happen if they do it in the style of BTAS and Arkham games as that to me is THE definitive interpretation of Bats. Grew up with that, and I have all dvds and I adore every millimeter of material by Timm and Dini. Thats what the films should be like after Nolans. And it would be the perfect thing for the justice league film (which i will never see as I hate JLA). But it could be good because we get to see clayface and id love to see Arkham Citys interpretation of Freeze on the big screen. Truly awsome opponent.

And id like to see the more acrobatic style of batman. Still want more Nolan films, but hey, id take BTAS style ANY day.

Sure it will. For one, peoples' attention-spans will allow it. Secondly, as you already admitted, Batman is Batman and people will connect regardless (as long as it's not a piece of crap). Hell, Batman could even be anthology... with a completely new film world every 2-3 years... and people would probably accept it. Batman is pretty unique in that way. There have been umpteen interpretations (in print, animated, and live action) over the years and they've all been accepted. Well, except for Schumacher. :lol

I suppose twitter generation is upon us :lol

They should just do a big budget CGI batman film along Arkham city lines :lol

the only reason why i think it won't be a origin batman film
is because nolan's batman origin cannot be beat.
the same if anyone does the joker again.

and i really hope man of steel is good but it will suck if its
all like a cheesy marvel movie.
it would be cool if they didn't even do a JLA movie .

The reboot will only work if it jumps headfirst into the world of Batman. If we spend 45 minutes of Bruce training in the mountains, we'll just have another Spiderman ____-storm.

Yeah, they can just have a quick recap like the (I think?) prologue in Hush. In one panel, he's a kid whose parents just got shot - a few panels later he's bench pressing what appears to be 600 pounds, and doing some science-y stuff with beakers. :lol

But we can fill in the gaps ourselves, and don't really need the training stuff. Begins had it because it was, well, "Begins". 89 didn't have anything like that, and we had no problem catching up.

Well that and the fact that even with the explicit ending (mentioning that the autopilot does work and then showing Bruce) a bunch of numbnuts are still confused as to whether or not he actually survived. :slap

Ambiguity confuses the great unwashed. And this is a Batman film so it has to play to the mainstream.

Still think all the flashbacks dumb it down even further, though.

We're lead to believe that Bruce Wayne is alive, but there are a few things that also point to the contrary, from what I mentioned before. I think the ending could be interpreted as being open-ended in that regard.

It just surprises me that there are a few folks on this thread who are just blatantly rude, to those who don't follow along with their train of thought.

You may think so but most people don't

They need to save joker for a sequel I think rather I give it more distance from ledgers

I don't compare Hammill to Ledger Jokers, because they're just too different. But for me, Hammill Joker is the comic Joker come to life (or as close as possible without being live action).

I think the sooner we get a new live action Joker, the better. Ledger need not absolutely personify such an iconic, integral character.

Depending on the comic, I either read Joker in ledgers voice, or Hamills voice.

Probably with batman is Kevin Conroy is THE only voice I read Batman in.

I don't think they'll do an origin. Everybody knows why Batman became Batman ... maybe start with a legit Robin origin, instead. Or, start with Robin involved, and end with the Nightwing split. There are plenty of stories to tell without rehashing an origin that was already perfected. Maybe do three movies tracing the three separate Robins ... first with a Grayson origin and Two Face (like Robin Year One), second with Jason Todd, Nightwing and Joker, and the third with Tim Drake and Penguin or Mr. Freeze.

I'd be fine with them taking Nolan's origin as definitive and never retelling it ... start the next reboot after Begins, and see where it goes.

I don't think they can avoid the Joker, though. There cannot be a Batman universe without a Joker.

While movie thing has been done to death (almost), the limits of the genre are really starting to show next to amazing video games like Arkham Asylum/City. Those games capture the property better than any film probably ever will.

Still, it's nice to put the controller down in my old age and be entertained.

See, I love all of those performances... but I can't personify any of these characters with specific actors.
