I'm seeing it on saturday. Still hopeful. Although one particular element of the reviews i have been reading has me worried. A lot of them say the first hour or so (after the into) is unnecessarily talky and pompously over complicated. And it really doesn't need to be as the storyline is a pretty simple narrative posing as something highbrow.

Hmmm.. that was my main gripe with TDK. It was very self indulgent. The dry pompous yada yada ruined what was good about it for me. I hope this isn't the same.

Maybe Nolan needs to take a step back and remember that his movies aren't really very highbrow.

On a positive note, it seems when it kicks into gear, it's good fun.

Fingers crossed.

I want to take that wrap-round poster home :lol

Just saw it and I must say.....I'm just not feeling it.
A reasonable end to the trilogy, but very far from cinematic masterpiece.
Some very cool scenes, great acting (especially Hathoway, Caine and Oldman), but far too much exposition and very clumsy fight choreography (you could really tell they weren't connecting).

A generous 7/10 for me.

Isn't Harry Knowles from AICN the dude that gives glowing reviews on some of the worst movies out there.

He loved Batman and Robin.

Well, then again how can one not love Batman and Robin, that muther____er shot off like 300 grapple's. :lol

Went there spoiler-free (well i saw some trailers) and...

IT WAS AWESOME

Note though, i think the reason why some hated it is because it connects a lot with the previous two films
one can easily get lost

Luckily i rewatched them before going to TDKR screening :rock

I wasnt bored at any point, I found the infamous first hour as necessary and entertaining

You can almost always go the opposite of a Harry Knowles or Devin Faraci review and know you've made the right choice. As much as I typically fall in line with the likes of Ebert and Bernadalini, I admittedly have used these guys in reverse to gather my bearings.

I read Harry Knowles review, well at least up until the big spoiler warning.

I will grant that he is completely entitled to his own opinions. My only gripe with him is that his overall complaint seems to be that this isn't what he was expecting from a batman movie.

I did skim down to his final paragraph too where he says if you enjoy this movie he wants you to read the comics, play the games and watch the animated movie to see what Batman is really about. Frankly I've done all of those and I have had no issue with Nolan's take on the character!

Just seems a little condescening from Harry, like he knows better than anyone else.

:lecture

Agreed. Knowles and Faraci are completely off kilter. And it's become impossible to distinguish between studio paid fawning and genuine enthusiasm in any of their reviews these days.

The chief complaints seem to be that it's too dark and too loud with too many big ideas. I love dark, I don't mind loud, and I don't need ideas pruposed and resolved for me so I think if those are the complaints I won't have many.
