Re: The Dark Knight Rises

If I was intimidated before after seeing Manny punch the ____ out of Daniel Tosh, I'm intimidated now.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Batman isn't a superhero. He's a man in a costume that knows how to fight. All you need to be a formidable villain is to know how to fight back. Manny Pacqiuo is a midget, do you think he intimidates his opponents?

Ras was of average size, but we accepted that he could be a physical opponent because he was Bruce's teacher. I'm sorry, I just don't see a middleweight wrestler being a worthy foe for bats.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

He's gonna be closest thing to a "Super Villain" Nolan was probably gonna go with, because he'll be jacked up on the Venom. I can only assume he'll be the most formidable physical challenge to Batman in the films.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Bane's mask...

He looks like a muzzled beast instead of a luchador. :D

There is tubing running from the rounded area at the back of the mask to the mouth piece in front. Near the rounded area at the back is a small knob.

There also seems to be a scar running down his spine. Possibly from surgery.

Then you have Alon Aboutboul cast in the role of a "mad scientist".

His mask is designed for a certain function. It wouldn't look that way otherwise. Doesn't seem far-fetched to think he will use Venom. ;)

There's a rumor that he's impervious to pain. That, along with using venom (without tubes hanging around) should be a real, physical challenge to Batman. As Bane should be...

a person or thing that ruins or spoils; a deadly poison; death; destruction; ruin.

Especially since Batman doesn't even have to get out of his tank to run Bane's ass right over when he's crossing the street.

____, don't let me direct a Batman movie, it would be over in 2 minutes. :lol

BB Scene 1:
Ras is crossing the street, Batman runs him over with the Tumbler, the END!

TDK Scene 1:
Joker is crossing the street, Batman runs him over with the Tumbler, the END!

TDNR Scene 1:
Bane is crossing the street, Batman runs him over with the Tumbler, the END!

But, you can accept that a spoiled rich boy can become a crime fighting super hero with a few years of hand to hand combat training and some gadgets.

If Bane is a fighter, (Maybe Nolan will go the MMA route) and on some sort of pain killing/strength enhancing chemical (toxin), then how is it hard to believe he would be a threat.

Just sayin' :1-1:

Well that's the story so yes.

That is who Batman is, I believe it. Therefore I have certain expectations for what kind of villain can be a challenge for him.

Mmmm, maybe.

If that's the way it's gonna go, I trust Nolan as the one to make it believable.

I take it you are a fan of Burton's Keaton Batman?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Albeit, Vinnie Jones is tall, he is not that tall and some shots in X3 he has been made to look larger than others with in the frame.

Nice boots!

He's not a wrestler. :slap

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Tom Hardy Bane wouldn't stand a chance!

:lecture

I'm interested in seeing Batman losing physically in this one. Basically getting the ____ knocked out of him. He doesn't need to have his back broken by Bane per se, but I expect some big scene where Bane over throws Batman's top dog status and Wayne goes back to the Batcave licking his wounds.

Batman is certainly no underdog, but sort of something like an 80s film i.e. Rocky or The Karate Kid where he suffers a defeat but then comes back and apprehends/defeats Bane. A defining, climatic, holy ____, this is Batman moment.

I'm sure Bane's mask device or whatever gimmick he has will be used against him by Batman. Just like Scarecrow is defeated in Begins with a "taste of his own medicine", Ras getting his ass kicked by his OWN training (same gauntlets, doing what is necessary) and the whole set up of Batman's detractable gauntlet blade and the fact that Joker distracted himself with his whole "wanna know how I got these scars" gimmick.

The Joker stole the show in the last one. In this, I want to see Batman rise to the top. Throw in some good bits like the reminder of why he is Batman (parents), legacies, Catwoman, Bruce Wayne's philanthropy and Batman finally reaching his peak in the series and not being a "year one" newb anymore (the Batman that doesn't yell to intimidate and frighten someone) and this should be a solid film.

Juggernaut looked great in X3. Those 3 goof behild them, looked like terraaaawwwwble. The hedgehog guy was lame too.

Maybe they should have got Vinnie to play Bane. Hardy is a REPLICA to Vinnies Desert Eagle .50.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

You obviously won't see him getting his back broken but I have a feeling they'll do a backbraker like the cover no problem which will be fun to see. After having two real cerebral villains in Ras and The Joker it should be fun to see a physical fight.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Similar to how they rolled out teasers for TDK, what follows after this moody pic of the big bad shrouded in shadows would be the theatrical teaser, right?

I'm gonna call it right now:

10 seconds of silence against a black screen, then --

"Why do we fall, Master Wayne?"

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

*cue Zimmer score, fade-in of bat symbol.

*pause

*malevolent line from Bane, bat-symbol begins to crumble.

fade out.

*cue geek orgasms.

There's some rumor going about that TDKR's teaser will play before Harry Potter.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Any guesses for when we may get a teaser?

Guess the first full trailer will be around November.

Do you remember the teaser they played in the IMAX theatres? It ended up being the entire opening scene from the movie (Bank robbery scene) Probably the longest teaser i've ever seen.

Hehe I still remember 2008 like it was yesterday, I admit I was a total fanboy to the movie. We were taking off early to Orlando the next day but I still had to see it that night. IMAX is the only way to go when it comes to these movies.

Is 2012 here yet? :impatient:
