Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

He said the villains for the third movie are going to be:

John Ventimiglia as Crazy-Quilt

AND..

Luis Guzmán as Kite-Man

:)

I'd see that movie...

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I'm guessing Hardy is one of three Villains: The Riddler, Killer Croc (some of the shoot takes pace in New Orleans) or Black Mask.

I'm hoping he plays Black Mask. I haven't heard anything about Rose Byrne, she may be on the WB Casting Grid, but that doesn't mean she's been cast. Best to wait to hear official word from WB.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Killer Croc being one of the villains? I thought Nolan likes to preserve the "physical reality", so not too much CGI-animated characters? :dunno

He's doing that with the Superman Reboot, so no Darkseid & Brainiac.. He'll stick with a human-looking villain like General Zodd or Luthor.

I'm hoping the villains are The Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin AND Black Mask. :) It's gonna cap the trilogy so might as well cast more villains! :clap

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I hope they don't cram to many villians in. I'd be happy with one. I don't want spiderman 3 again.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Yeah, I'm not saying Killer Croc is a villain in the film, just saying it shoots in New Orleans and that lends itself to a Croc Character. And Nolan wouldn't go all CGI if it was a character, he would Nolanize it somehow...

But, I'm still guessing Black Mask may be the Master Villain.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Croc could just be a black gang leader with a skin disorder. Doesn't have to be a mutated crocodile man living in the sewers.

The guy from Boardwalk Empire who plays Chalky and who was on The Wire would be perfect for such a role.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I'm all for seeing Riddler as the main villain. I know Nolan can do wonders with anything he tackles.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I could care less really about the villain in this movie, I'm hoping it goes back to a Begins structure where the focus is on Bruce/Batman, I'm really interested in that story and I think, as a trilogy, it would be strong to the entire story if the first and third acts really focus on his character with the second being more of the turning point in his life and focusing on those who shape it.

My thoughts too. They begin with the exhausting process of establishing himself, he's then hit upside the head with reality and its a little more than he can handle, he recoups, goes back to basics and closes out his legacy as the legends he really is.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Tom Hardy? Whatever. I just don't want this movie to turn into INCEPTION 2. I hate that movie.

Give a director too much "creative direction" and it won't be Batman anymore. I've been low-key about my excitement for the "next Batman" but when I go into full Batman mode, watch out. It was far too early for me to start discussing this film before but I think Batman time is almost upon us.

I agree with Maulfan and Voorhees going back to the Begins/Batman/Bruce Wayne/Fight for justice/Parents are dead structure in the evolution of Batman becoming Batman. The villain can take a back seat this time.

If Nolan delves into artsy, psychology of people crap instead of the story and psychology of the Dark Knight though, I'll be a bit disappointed. Basically keep it Batman.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

It sounds like you think just because he might cast actors from inception, that the next Batman won't be like the previous 2.

Nolan's just got an eye for talent and filling roles with the right actors to deliver his vision. Michael Caine and Bale weren't Bruce Wayne and Alfred in The Prestige but he used them right after Begins.

If he casts Hardy, all it will mean is that the character he casts him for, he feels he's the right fit to bring that character to life.

Why would Croc be CG? I remember seeing the new MK "movie-like" trailer and reptile came off to me very croc like. Instead of him being a lizard from some imaginary land, he was a mentally insane canibal with a skin disorder...isn't that who croc is?

Prestige I understand, I had no problem with that. But Michael Caine didn't serve any purpose in Inception whatsoever. It was like he was in it just because. As shallow as it might sound it was also hard for me to not see "Scarecrow" and "Fake Ras" while I was watching Inception.

Nobody gets sick of that? Johnny Depp and his wife is usually ALWAYS in a Tim Burton movie, Michael Caine and the like in a Christopher Nolan film. Change it up a bit, work with new people, broaden your horizons.

It was refreshing with Heath Ledger, that choice came out of no where. I'm not worried though. This film is going to be made by the same crew that gave us Begins and The Dark Knight.

I'm curious to see if Scarecrow will be brought back, again.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Or maybe Hardy is replacing Bale as Batman . . . (he might have contract for three films though, not sure.)

Bingo. Before Burton when all Burtony with Penguin, the classic Silver Age styling was that he was short with a long pointed nose and was teased as a child with the nickname Penguin. I could easily see Killer Croc working in a "Mad Dog Tannen" style where the character hates the name even though everyone else call them that.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Here is the example I was talking about with reptile. The 3rd film could start off simular to this short film.

agreed. Although I don't really see Inception being a problem as far as influence. I do like the movie but I think he just let out all that steam with that. He's not really one to dwell on things.

He always uses the same actors. I'd be pissed if ellen page was in this. Now he can focus on batman.
