Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I was skeptical, I was expecting to see some cast who 'looked the part', had a crazy look to them already and a very sharp jawline
(I kept imagining Crispin Glover as the Joker).

So when Heath was cast I didn't think he looked like 'The Joker', I knew who he was and enjoyed some of his previous films...but I was surprised by his casting. I didn't really have good or bad expectations, I really had no idea what to expect. Then once the first image of the joker was shown (that dark shadow image where you only see features of his face, I was sold. He was the Joker in and out.

And boy did Heath ever impress me and so many others. One of the most skilled performances I have ever seen on screen. I know many actors devote their life to their roles for a few months, but Heath truly devoted his life to the dark character of The Joker (mentally and physically; read up on what he did if you haven't) and it gave us the performance of a lifetime.

There will be other great Jokers in future reboot I'm sure, but I just don't think any actor will be able to top what Heath did.

Completely agree.

Though, it does get a bit annoying hearing people say the joker character killed him. In many interviews he said it was the most fun acting he'd ever done.

Pretty epic fan made trailer.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

When Ledger was announced in 2006, I was like, "LOL, WUT"? This was coming off of Brokeback Mountain and I was thinking out of all the actors they could pick, known and unknown, why the hell pick him? I was one of those that participated in the "Brokeback Batman" jokes.

When pics of TDK started coming out and info about the Bank Heist and clown masks was going around though, I sort of got over it. I just accepted it and didn't really think it would be a bad performance, nor a good one either. This was back when those production pics of him with just the green hair and everyone was speculating that there wouldn't be red lips or white skin. Basically a full fledged "teh realistic" boring Joker. I actually dug that concept for awhile until this was shown.

joker-first-look.jpg

I thought that looked like ____, but I was still excited and I thought the scar idea was a good one.

Then when they showed those pics of him in the car, and at the party in the full purple suit and green hair, I didn't have any negative things to say. It was all good.

When the trailer debuted it pretty much cemented the fact that this Joker was going to be damn good ____. I couldn't wait until July 2008.

Wish I could say the same for TDKR. Bane looks and sounds like ____ (though, I kind of like his lolzy speech dialogue and I can understand it), Catwoman looks like ____ (no ass, no bewbs, generic matrix character design), it all looks like ____. ____in' trailer too. When the TDK trailer began, with Batman, and the Joker voice over, you know it was gonna be a Batman film, a damn good one. With TDKR, it's a little British kid, singing the national anthem, at a football game with annoying political crap/1% movements thrown in and Batman, behind the scenes. Oh and the merchandising and marketing sucks for it too. It's worse than Begins, that practically had none.

I just want to go see it to see if I'm in a scene somewhere and if Liam Neeson is back, whereas in 2008, I was pumped and couldn't get enough of the film itself. For this one, I can't wait until it's all over and everyone moves on.

I'm gonna have a good laugh when you buy the HT offerings of Bane and Catwoman :yess:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well the fanboys basically ruined the viral marketing campaign for TDKR within minutes of it going live so who knows, maybe we'd be more hyped if it were handled more like TDK's was.

But I agree, regardless of how you felt about Heath at first, when the trailers hit, it was just pure awesome. The only thing so far that's made me feel that way with TDKR is the shot of the Batwing or w/e it's called.

I'll buy double DX 2.0 Ledger Joker's in their place. ____ em'. Trying to like the both of them just feels contrived and forced.

Yeah, Bane is probably going to give Batman a cool, ass kicking (it'll be my favorite part in the movie, but I bet it's like two seconds long), but meh, I've seen it before. I quite like him in the prologue (we talked about this Umair) but that's only because of his epic lolz lines, like, "THE FIRA RISES, brother"! He'll probably be a strong character, no pun intended. Visually though, he's crap and unintimidating. I don't want a damn toy of him.

"Cat"woman is going to shove more "morals" and pretentious speeches in audiences faces than Rachel Dawes ever did. I hope she blows up too. She's probably a liberal _____, just like Hathaway is in real life. Her dialogue in the trailer alone makes me want to slap a hoe. Give me some Cotillard (though she probably won't lose that damn french accent).

Yeah, you could use the argument that "oh, you haven't seen it yet, how do you know" but when the first TDK trailer hit, even a little bit before that, you knew it was going to be something special. TDKR can suck it. :pfft:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

They hacked the website and got the official Bane reveal images etc and leaked them rather then doing the viral game they had planned.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

How did the 'fanboys' ruin anything?

I think Deckard means when all those nuts kept following the sites and pulled the codec out of the them before WB activated it. I forget when it happened but I know what he's talking about. The constant obsessiveness always ruins the fun.

Relax dude

I don't see what would be so wrong about a liberal minded catwoman, and Bane will serve his purpose to give Batman a whooping and endanger Gotham enough to lure him back out in the open.

But ultimately Bane is never going to be as magnetic and remarkable as Heath's Joker, and it's pretty deliberate too IMO - the focus of the film will be Batman and Bruce. That is what i'm looking forward to

Oh I see, yes that was a bit anticlimatic

But I don't think WB ever planned to have an elaborate viral for this one, though I wish they had done.

:exactly::lecture:exactly:

I also try not to allow politics to ruin or even make me like a movie, especially before even seeing it.

I want a high quality Batman movie and I have no doubt it will be delivered to me come July, regardless of politics or if Bane/Catwoman are not as memorable as Joker.

I trust they will serve their purpose.

Besides, there might be conservative politics in the movie to counterbalance whatever liberal agenda might be taking place, so it will be like real life anyways.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Anyway, back on topic.

Those new behind the scenes shots of the Joker are great. The broken PERS one is the best. :lol You know there's a ton of behind the scenes footage that the general public doesn't even know about that Nolan and WB is sitting on.

Oh wait, I'm not on topic. Point is, as far as Joker stuff goes for TDK, there's more where that came from. Probably got it in a vault somewhere along with those scenes like outside the party.

Anything BTS with Ledger from TDK seems to have become quite the cult status.

Man do I miss Nam :lol
