Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think both TDKR theatrical trailers lacked a really cool Bane moment. Something that shows (not tells) us that he's really, really dangerous. The shot of him holding Batman's mask is good, but I wanted something that emphasized his physical superiority over Batman. Hardy ain't that big, so in these trailers it comes down to his mask and voice and fighting ability to convey a sense of presence. Didn't quite accomplish that. I guess I just wanted better chosen shots of Batman and Bane fighting. Batman should really get his ass kicked. I mean, DESTROYED. Didn't get that. Well, being a forum-goer, I do know that Batman probably does get wrecked, but does the average non-diehard movie-goer get that? I dunno.

The teaser from way back did a lot better in this regard. Remember when it leaked and we got to see the back of Bane's lumbering figure approach the exhausted Batman? Need more of that. Not him blowing ____ up, which is something Joker did a lot of. It's nothing new, just an order of magnitude greater in scale, perhaps.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well, I said I cried. And I did. I've never cried watching a trailer before.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Does bane use any form of venom in this movie ?

I highly doubt that. I see it as only being an adrenaline booster. If it made him bigger, why would he turn it off and get smaller when he's holding a broken piece of Batmans mask?

Well, since there are shots of Bane getting some good hits on Batman, the broken cowl and Bruce lying maskless with a bloody and bruised face asking Bane "why didn't you kill me?"... yeah I think they'll get that. :wink1:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Do they have a moment before Bane kicks Batmans ass? Or do I see her looking down at him beat up?

Okay, I guess I don't give the general movie-going public enough credit. Still, I think they could've shown more to sell Bane.

Looks like they have a moment but that shot of her seems to be after he gets his ass beat.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The semi truck flipping over in TDK made me audibly gasp in the theater the first time I saw it. You could see that it was done practically and the cameras caught it on film. There is something dynamic about doing things like that live on the set that you just know is real. When I see CGI, some part of my brain knows it is fake and while I might appreciate the beauty of the design and coolness of the imagery, it doesn't evoke the gut level response of something real.

That shot of the Tumbler flipping over towards the camera is the most exciting and dangerous looking thing in the trailer for me. The exploding bridges or collapsing football field don't have the realism of, say, the exploding hospital or the previously mentioned truck flip in TDK. I hope that his push to make this more epic hasn't caused an overuse of CGI to produce those big visuals.

Well, some concessions must be made for the sake of practicality. I would imagine blowing up a couple bridges is more than a wee bit more difficult to accomplish with physical effects than blowing up a building.

The Bat-plane and Tumbler chase (ending with the latter's flip-over) didn't do a lot for me. We've already seen a Tumbler blow up and flip over in TDK. The Bat didn't look that powerful to me either. The little muzzle flashes on its guns were added in post, and they looked weak.

On the up side, I do like the feeling that this trailer is holding back a lot of good stuff. I'd rather it be kept that way. How awesome would it have been if we hadn't known about the semi flip-over in TDK prior to actually seeing the movie? I hope there will be some great surprises in TDKR.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Late to the trailer party. Very different tone to TDK trailer. It was like the tense build up was preparing everyone for the end.:monkey2

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'll still await the trailer where we see Bane kicking real butt instead of these quick cuts.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Holy ____. That trailer was awesome! Now I am excited to see this. Big time. "Did they kill him?". "...I don't know." I sincerely hope this movie is as good as what I just saw. If so it could be the best 3rd sequel ever. I'm digging Bane too...and Hathaway. I had big reservations about her but now I'm interested.

^edit: She says "I'm not sure." not "I don't know." Watched it again.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think the reason this trailer is giving so much emotions is just because how huge this movie is,
this is just not another batman movie, this is Not another superhero movie. Does everyone realize this movie is going to have some sort small war going on? I mean, this is going to be huge, this is going to deal with issues that are going on right now,
sure there is a guy in a bat costume beating up a guy with a mask,
but it looks to me like this movie is going to be so much deeper, and at the end of the day that's why we love Nolan's batman, because the movies are more than just a guy in a costume,

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
