Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I've seen Avengers twice. Last week.

I cried for the first time in my life after watching a trailer, when I saw the TDKR trailer last night.

You cried after the trailer, Void?!^^
I cried the last 30 - 45min of Avengers, both times I watched it.
:lol

If there were ever more clear examples of why generation would have ____ the bed during WWII... :lol

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The League of Shadows has been a check against human corruption for thousands of years. We sacked Rome, loaded trade ships with plague rats, burned London to the ground. Every time a civilization reaches the pinnacle of its decadence, we return to restore the balance.

Bane's motivation I'm guessing.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

This might get blasted in here but I don't get all the salivating and the nerd boners over this recent trailer. I found it really uninteresting without the same gravitas as the TDK trailers had and kind of unoriginal and boring. Bane was more audible but something about Hathaway's saying of the lines, line she was trying to channel Lee Meriwether and dripped of her trying a bit too hard.

After watching the trailer it didn't leave me wanting to run out and watch the film but more wondering why the hell was Joseph Gordon Levitt was featured so heavily and what his connection to Selena must be.

It's not an Avengers versus TDKR thing, it's solely a TDKR thing and wondering why people are losing their ____ over something we've seen with the TDK trailer, the quick flashing, voiceover out of context to create suspense but done better in 2008?

:dunno

Some people just see the face of God in this Nolan Batman stuff. Every new image or piece of footage is like an epiphany to them. It's interesting to say the least. If I were a trained psychologist I'd probably commission case studies. :lol

Already done in the 90's with the release of The Crow. :lol

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, I still enjoy the TDK trailer where the Joker narrates the beginning even though I don't even really like TDK. That was a great trailer. This trailer was extremely tame IMO. The only surprise was Valfar Bruce Wayne.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Has the Nolan Batman stuff reached the point of popularity where it's now the cool thing to hate on it?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It reached that point back in 2008. The amount of Nolan haters were massive along side of the lovers.

I actually really like Nolan's stuff, TDK is still one of my favorite in the genre and loved all the viral stuff.

This one just didn't capture that magic, it didn't even capture the magic of Batman Begins. It felt stale. Just my two pennies.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It went past that point when TDK went gangbusters at the BO

Nah, I think it was killed by Joker quotes and this type of ____:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, pretty much. The Cult of Ledger Joker kinda soured the whole affair for many.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

People can always go to far with their love or hate of anything. I think we see that here all the time. If people want to like something so much thats fine by me as its not hurting my enjoyment for the item or my dislike for said same item.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

There will be little chance of nerds cosplaying as Bane, guaranteed, so +1 for TDKR over TDK.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Whew, lots to catch up here.

3 quick thoughts:

1. Storms coming, same as BB when Batman was talking about LOS, awesome connection.

"The Fire Rises" always reminded me of the inevitable "purging fire" Ra's refers to in BB.

"When a forest grows too wild a purging fire is inevitable and natural. Tomorrow, the world will watch in horror as its greatest city destroys itself. The movement back to harmony will be unstoppable this time."

I think I agree with you about JGL.

Oh, that's totally cool. It's just when you get into conversations with someone people who are so far in that they're completely closed-minded to all other opinions... that does get annoying.

I agree but again we see that here all the time. Heck, you know as well as I do it happens in the SW section anytime the PT, OT, and EU come up. So it is what it is. You deal with it and move on.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I never understood the idea that some people fanboying/nerdgasming over anything should detract from others' enjoyment of it :dunno

Not a cosplayer myself but they don't bother me in the least

Difabio is muttering away in some corner as I speak, cursing me for ruining TDKR for him :lol
