The more materials I see, the more I love Nolan's take on Bane. Hardy's portrayal truly seems to own all of the previous comic-book versions of this character. I've said it before, but TDKR Bane looks and feels like a supervillain version of a neo-natzi militant. He is not steroid-huge, but there is an aura of constant physical threat and utter ruthlessnes about the guy(which I believe is far more in essence of the character, than just grotesquely huge musculature). Even his somewhat underdeveloped, rough physique attests to that. Hardy looks like a real thick-necked brute, not a clean-cut male model. The great thing about Hardy's frame in TDKR is that he isn't ripped and chiseled in a male-model style, that so many other superhero actors utilise. He actually has some fat on him, which gives him that raw, dangerous, pitt-bull apprarence. The gritty, hardcore grille look of the mask, the worn, rough, leather jacket that gives him this awesome, rakish appearence, and his overall image of ruthless commando, rather than the cheesy, spandex-wearing luchador. There is even danger in the very way he moves. The new trailer had a couple of great shots, like Bane walking towards Wayne, nonchalantly holding his jacket, his creepy glare when the CIA agent removed the hood from his head and the fierce look on his face as he searched for Batman before their final confrontation amidst the riots. The militant, ideological fanatic feel refers not only to his looks, but also the the character backstory and Nolan's take on it. I believe it was a fantastic move on Nolan's part to show the "great mind" side of Bane, by giving him that fanatical ideology that he is trying to force on Gotham. Bane in TDKR appears to be someone who despite his great intelect, is nonetheless driven by some misguided and pathetic beliefs, that he is trying to force upon the world at gun-point. We had numerous examples of such people in the real world and I believe its a great theme and awesome take on the character. Joker was a lunatic anarchist, Bane truly is a dangerous, driven terrorist.

The voice itself is one of the coolest things about Hardy's take on Bane. On one side, the highly stylised, british accent might be viewed as a cheap way of showing the character's "sophistication", but on the other hand there is a very creepy undertone to it, that combined with Hardy's eyes and look, makes for an awesome effect. A big, hulking brute, nonchalantly using immaculate british as if nothing was wrong, while at the same time breaking people's bones and beating them to a pulp - how can You not love it?

The trailer itself was great. It gradually builded up its intensivity and tension, without restoring to bobastic soundtrack right off the bat, as so many hollywood trailers do these days. One thing that striked me after watching the preview, is that apparently Nolan and Wally Pfister keep upping the spectacularity factor with each one of their movies. There were some great camera shots in this short trailer. As fantastic as TDK cinematography was, TDKR actually looks like it might finally grant Pfister, that long overdue Oscar nom.

It would be a crime, not to watch this in Imax:

At least someone can look at this without being infected with the "Trust in Nolan" bug...

Right. :rolleyes2

I genuinely thought the trailer was great.

You don't? That's alright, but don't try to write people's excitement off as blind loyalty. :rolleyes2

The trailer was different than what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. They really upped the suspense and feeling of foreboding compared to the last ones. I'm much more excited to find out what happens than I was for TDK. Which says a lot.

It feels like TDKR will have the emotional impact of Batman Begins with the excitement and action of TDK, but on a grander scale.

Agree with every word.

Except Wally already got an Oscar for Inception. I wouldn't rule out another here though, this looks by far his most visually spectacular work on the evidence of this trailer
