This would be awesome, but hinges on Nolan leaving what Batman's status is over the 8 years a bit open ended.

If he definitively tells us Bruce has not worn the cowl for 8 yrs, then that kills those possibilities

Maybe a computer generated Cartoon Network series called "Batman: The Clone Wars".

Can you imagine the cluster____ if that happens or if the Batman "reboot" was referring to a Batman Inc. kind of thing where JGL is the frontrunner of it with Nolan still producing?

I think it will be but DC Comics has shocked me multiple times already with some of their moves and going by Jim Lee and Geoff Johns openly saying that film continuities will be allowed to take whatever liberties that the directors/producers need to back when they were talking Green Lantern, it wouldn't really shock as much as it would have a couple of years ago I believe.

There is a huge rumor that the new DCU filmverse will mimic the New 52 beginning with Cavill's Superman who looks mysteriously similar.

Well I agree with you that 'New DC' has lost it completely

I stopped buying comics a few months into 'the new 52'

And no doubt that MoS Superman is based off the new 52 version at least visually but probably also in terms of back-story etc.

All I hope for reboot Batman is that it takes a fantastical approach and is built ground up to be compatible with MoS and rest of the DCU.

Everything points to Bruce having retired Batman sometime within those 8 years. I don't think it happened directly after TDK, but once the 'Harvey Dent Act' (similar to the Patriot Act?) went into effect which helped clean up the city and led to this "peace time".

I don't care if JGL is Batman, he just should be Bruce Wayne as well IMHO. If they reboot with him as Bruce I'd be fine with it. If John Blake turns out to be an alias for Jean Paul Valley and he is running around as Batman by the end it'll be a riot on the net.

I'm actually fine with the idea of JGL being Batman at the end of TDKR, whether his name is John Blake, ____ Grayson, or anything else, what matters is how it's accomplished if that indeed is what happens, and how they explain Bruce being comfortable with this guy taking up the mantle.

However, if that does happen - I'm not sure I would be ok with JGL magically becoming Bruce Wayne in a reboot. And i'm definitely not going to be happy if Reboot = John Blake is Batman and Bruce Wayne is dead/retired for good.

My TDKR prediction: Catwoman will start out as a villain, and then become an aid to Batman. Bruce Wayne/Batman will be damaged and beaten by Bane, but will be destroyed/killed by Talia Al Ghul. Lucius Fox will also be killed off. As for Alfred; not certain. Officer John Blake (JGL) will understand the importance of Batman as a symbol to Gotham. We are then left with Officer John Blake assuming the "new symbol" of Batman. Hence WB's decision to reboot the franchise after Nolan's era. Batman Beyond anyone????

I'm just playing devils advocate here, I don't think it WILL happen, I just think it's one of a few possibilities I can see playing out at this point

You're right, it won't happen. JGL is Robin without calling him Robin.

Do you read some of this stuff? Nolan could have Batman take of the cowl at the end of TDKR and be Carrot Top and these dudes would still proclaim him Jesus, face-planting his groin.
