Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Will it be a problem if I have no freakin' clue what 'Slither' is? :rotfl:panic::monkey3

~~~I recommend you purchase it as soon as you get home. It's a couple years old so you can probably find it for $10 or so.
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Nope, but rent it......that's the best 'gross out' comedy/horror film of all time, IMO
I would say it doesn't come within an iota of that status, theres nothing really all that gross unlike Feast which came out around the same time for example, and it's nowhere near a Toxic Avenger type flick, but its a good movie worth checking out.
Regal lastnight had all the new trailers.
Spidey 3D looked great. I'm just talking about the 3D mind you. :lol
It was a lame audience, not one person clapped or even said anything after the TDKR trailer, 98% silence.
What is there to clap/cheer about over that trailer, though?
Unless, of course, you simply hoot and holler at anything that looks good & engaging. I say this because the latest TDKR has a lot of good stuff in it... but nothing that makes me want to "woot!" out load.
It's a somber, "this is serious business" trailer. What's there to cheer or clap about? The only semi cloud-pleasing moment is the "This isn't a car..." gag. Still nothing that inspires me to cheer. :lol
And you guys can't have it both ways. You can't laud the Nolan films for their serious tone and cerebral take and then expect the same audience reaction as the popcorn flicks some have downplayed.
YOU SHUT YOUR FACE! The Dark Knight Rises trailer deserves a standing, slow clap.
Quiet reserved clapping and mini hoots would've sufficed. :lol
Laud? TDK was an enjoyable movie that's been stuck on a pedestal because of Ledger's death.
It's about as cerebral as a video game.
It seems like a postgrad thesis because of the mega-cheese that constituted previous Bat-flicks.
Superhero flicks should be fun, not like sitting through your grandmother's funeral . . . where the service is spoken by a Cookie Monster with laryngitis.
Nolan is very talented with a crackerjack crew, so TDKR will undoubtedly be of high quality.
But The Avengers just set the bar for this summer, though! :peace
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
A feel bad for WB/DC.
Without Nolan's 3 Batman movies, their Superhero agenda is non existent.
Oh well, they always have their direct to dvd cartoons.
Marvel on the other hand.
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
That cop is standing around in the middle of the night and looks up to see the Batwing flying around in daylight. My hat would blow off, too.
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Saw the trailer in IMAX 3D today before The Avengers. No slow clapping here, I heard people say "What the hell did they do to Batman?" and "This is the same string of movies?" even one that said "I'm confused, is this still supposed to be a comic book movie"
While I'm not as dim as the casual viewers there, it still didn't generate the excitement that I wanted it to. I did like the Bane sequences and the chanting behind but Hathaway is still trying way too hard and "The Bat" still brings a sneer and IMHO detaches from the basic Nolan plan (yes I know the Batpod and even to some extent The Tumbler does that but not as much as this).
I did wonder something though:
The time where Bruce has a beard, has anyone thought that it might be during flashback scenes when he was training in the LoS and not actually be in the context of the film itself but more of a memory scene?
It'd be a nerd sin to miss it but it just didn't pinch the same nerve that BB or TDK did in the previews stage. Who knows though I might be here in July praising the hell out of it.
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I'll be curious to see how much of a punch in the gut the Avengers is to TDKR. What I mean is the Avengers has set the bar so high will TDKR be able to actually get up to that level? I look forward to see it but I'm now not sure it can reach that level for me.
