I'm not surprised he hasn't turned the sequel down , he must be in need of the cash.
That fact says Sly realizes JCVD's fanbase and asked him a 2nd time. Rourke is the one who was definately not asked back and has been bad mouthing everyone that's givien him a shot.
Oh , I can imagine them making a lot of money making those straight to tv films no doubt so maybe you're right but it just seems to me he was desperate for work when watching that documentary I was talking about.
There was one point where he was shouting and going crazy to his wife about how people don't take him as an action star seriously anymore and just see him as some crazy guy.
He's fighting some guy in a kickboxing tournament also. Unless it's already happened. You're right though , I think rather than the money he feels as if he has to prove something.
I'm glad he's ended up in the Expendables , he deserves it.
Was Segal asked to join the cast ?.
The first film did good, I really don't think Sly gives a ____ about bringing certain cast in for their fanbase, I think it's about his respect for people's contributions to the genre and wanting to give them another shot in the big spotlight. He even commented before that with the success he had with Rocky Balboa and Rambo, he wanted to give his colleagues a chance to show they can still entertain as much as him. I really don't think he pursued Van Damme really hard, maybe the studio might have, but I doubt Sly himself really gave a ____, he's offering them a shot, there are those taking him up on the offer so I'm sure he just moves on after a point with people. I'm sure if he wanted them enough, he could get the other names that have floated around.
Pretty much. It's sad when Andrei Arlovski upstages Van Damme in a franchise Van Damme established.
I know what MF said, but I'm pretty sure Sly gave him a call. "Change your mind?" would've probably been his first words and Van Damme realizing the big ____ing mistake he made, would've been on it faster than he'd be on a 17-year-old, Dutch pornstar.
Yeah cos he's an "action" star
For the first one he was and declined. Same with Norris, Russell and Van Damme.
Is that pretty fast? I wouldn't know. I'd hardly say Arlovski upstaged anyone in US: Regeneration. Mike Pyle actually was the breakout role/character. And also, the 20 minute non-stop single shot Van Damme scene was pretty damn cool. (I've yet to hear anyone say...wow...Arlovski was great playing a non-speaking glaring robot that had the charisma of a wall.)
Van Damme has already joked about it being a mistake. People, not in the movie business are so quick to judge and make up their opinions on tabloid crap. Van Damme like nearly any other actor, thought he'd try directing his own movie which was a failure due to a lot of reasons. That was taking up his time, but I don't ____ on the dude for trying his hand at something different. In fact his DTV movies are much different than the ____ Seagal recycles and puts out. His last, Assassination Games got high marks from many and was in the top 10 in video rentals. He obviously has people interested still or otherwise he'd be retired.
You know what they say about people who live in glass houses...
I don't blame Seagal though, he turned it down because of Machete and the chance to work with Rodriguez.
It's the irony that I'm making fun of. You turn down an action movie offer from Stallone and insult him for doing it siting a lack of "depth," then turn around and do the same thing. And irony bites him in the ass when even being DTD, it still flops.

There is a fun Seagal DTV movie drinking game. Everytime you can spot a stunt double of Seagal, take a drink. On some I've seen, I'd be liquored up by the end of the movie.
