Who got cut??

Couture, Li.

And as far as Sly's intentions regarding bringing back 80s action films, what he's aiming for mostly is bringing back the over-the-top-ness of those movies where the heroes were oversized as we're the weapons and explosions. He doesn't like how action stars went from guys like him and Arnold to guys like Keaunu Reeves or Christian Bale. He wants to keep the type of action stars from his era. That's what Expendables is about, getting support and interest in heroes like that again.

Well neither of them, particularly Couture, were even around in the 80's. Li was in the 90's. That was another problem. There are a lot of 80's and 90's action stars that were left out. But Couture was completely forgettable in the 1st one. Much like Steve Austin and Gary Daniels.

Also, Li hasn't even filmed a scene yet nor has probably shot any promo shots to be used.

Disappointing to hear that about Biehn - WTF? Maybe I'm missing something but his career never took off really beyond putting food on his table and its probably not going to at this stage. Why turn this down. Damn I'd have loved to see him in it. Oh well maybe Avatar 2 for him.

I think Willis would go in place of Van Damme or any of the others since most people would recognize him more and he's still actively working today. I think he's deserving of the spot anyway. Him along with Arnold and Sly hopefully have the biggest parts also.

For me action stars go:

Arnie
Van damme
Sly
Dolph
Willis

Thats in order of memorable scenes/pergormances in action films.

In now way are they more deseving of a poster spot than Van Damme, Couture is nothing and Li is mostly 90's

I agree except my order for a true 80's movie would be:

Sly
Arnie
Willis
Norris
Van Damme
Dolph

Willis has an already bigger and better spot!

He didn't turn it down. He never got offered. Russell got offered but turned down. Norris turned it down. Seagal turned it down and Van Damme turned it down...talking about the 1st one.

They're 1000x more deserving. Van Damme snubbed his nose at the idea of Expendables. Even told Stallone he should be looking for something with more teeth, like playing a priest (despite the fact that the Belgian went on to do a sequel to Universal Soldier that belly-flopped like a SyFy movie :lol). So no, the muscles from pussville is not. The fact that he's in the sequel after having dissed the first film shows how pathetic he is. :lol

Did he really say to Stallone that he should be making something else ?. I remember reading he said " who would my character be ? " and apparently Stallone said " You'll get a lot of money " which Van Damme didn't really like and turned him down.
There was a four part documentary about Van Damme and he seemed a nice guy , he's definitely gone a little crazy though , he was literally crying on his knees about saving the planet on that documentary at one point. I felt a little sorry for him. All the drugs he was on wouldn't have helped.

I'm not surprised he hasn't turned the sequel down , he must be in need of the cash.

That fact says Sly realizes JCVD's fanbase and asked him a 2nd time. Rourke is the one who was definately not asked back and has been bad mouthing everyone that's givien him a shot.

You guys obviously don't know these guys make plenty in the DTV world. ;) Why you think Seagal has never left and makes 5 movies a year.

Oh , I can imagine them making a lot of money making those straight to tv films no doubt so maybe you're right but it just seems to me he was desperate for work when watching that documentary I was talking about.
There was one point where he was shouting and going crazy to his wife about how people don't take him as an action star seriously anymore and just see him as some crazy guy. :lol

He's fighting some guy in a kickboxing tournament also. Unless it's already happened. You're right though , I think rather than the money he feels as if he has to prove something.

I'm glad he's ended up in the Expendables , he deserves it.
Was Segal asked to join the cast ?.

The first film did good, I really don't think Sly gives a ____ about bringing certain cast in for their fanbase, I think it's about his respect for people's contributions to the genre and wanting to give them another shot in the big spotlight. He even commented before that with the success he had with Rocky Balboa and Rambo, he wanted to give his colleagues a chance to show they can still entertain as much as him. I really don't think he pursued Van Damme really hard, maybe the studio might have, but I doubt Sly himself really gave a ____, he's offering them a shot, there are those taking him up on the offer so I'm sure he just moves on after a point with people. I'm sure if he wanted them enough, he could get the other names that have floated around.

:lol @ the Soap Opera "drama"...
JCVD rocks, and so does every guy in this movie... they left their mark in the action genre and that's it!
As cheesy and terrible as the first one was, I enjoyed it a lot, and will watch this in theaters too! :rock!
Poster still sucks though... :lol
