And the war will distract from the death scenes. Look at King Theoden's scene after Pelennor fields (a battle that upped the ante from Helms Deep with not just Orcs vs. Gondorians, but Oliphants, Rohirrim, Pirates and . . . . GHOSTS). It was a great, powerful scene (Theoden was one of my favorites) but that moment is quickly swept away with another hour and several minutes worth of planning to give Frodo a chance to destroy the ring at the Black Gates.

The departure of Boromir punctuates the end of the first film. It was smaller and more personal. I highly doubt any of the scenes will do that in There in Back Again with all the stuff that will be going on. Like you said, MASSIVE BATTLE, it'll distract a bit from the big deaths. You know they're going to end it on the legacy and potential of the Ring and possibly Bilbo (writing the book) and Gollum (hunting for the ring), not any one character or their potential death.

Um Boromirs death was pretty much the last thing in the FOTR book. Thorin and company will die at the end too of TABA ... Just maybe expect the unexpected ... And carry some kleenex

Boromir died in the Two Towers. It was told mostly in flashback/discussion and was in the beginning of the story. Not as major.

We're talking about film here. I guarantee that Thorin and Co. won't be the impact of the Hobbit's ending. Remember, "there and back again".

I did say pretty much. But either way the end of the hobbit has to be touching. Brace for it. But I do stand corrected.. My son even said I shoulda known better

Boromir was a hero only by defending the hobbits. Before that?...the battle of the five armies IS A BIG Massive thing and even perhaps delayed Sauron from his attempt at conquest for 60 years. A huge middle earth change of events. Thorin will realize that he was a dik at his death. If Radagast dies it might be touching.. When Kili and Fili goes the girls in the theater will bawl. And if Tauriel and Kili pull a last of the Mohicans type of death...hmmm again just a feeling. Plus Thorins funeral should be touching with the Arkenstone and Orcrist placed on him..hhhmmmm

I guess I'll just forget about using spoilers now. :lol

All this talk of LOTR makes me want to sit down and watch all 3 EE back to back.

I know, I'm going to watch them backwards.

Btw, its official, Hobbit is not the SW PT.

And you never know, it might not quite happen the way it's written.

Maybe even at bag end if they do the Gandalf visiting part could be saddening if Balin mentions going to Moria with Ori ...I will shout out "don't go man! There's a Balrog in there dude! Remember Durins bane!!!!!"
