Just saw this on Twitter and had to try it....it's true.

If you go to Google maps, and ask for walking directions from The Shire to Mordor (you have to change it to walking directions, as driving is the default) this is what you get:

I'm just waiting for them to put it up for order so I can listen to it several times before the movie.

AUJ was pretty awesome but I do think this will be even better than that.

I have a feeling this will have better reviews as well. I remember talking to my friend in the months leading up to AUJ's release, and betting him that AUJ wouldn't get near universal praise like the LOTR films. I don't mean to make it sound like I was expecting a turkey, but I had a feeling there would be a backlash by a number of people cause the story would be a little different than LOTR.

I think it will be as well. I think critics will focus on the movie and less on the 48 FPS. I also think they will realize that this isn't LOTR the redo and understand The Hobbit is a bit different even with LOTR type stuff mixed in.

I don't know if all the hate on AUJ was about the tone.

Many argue that the high quality filmaking style from LOTR was cheapened for this series.

Switch from LOTR 24fps/Super 35mm to Digital 48fps plus the increase in cgi characters seems to be the complaint.

For me the shift in tone was expected.

Or am I missing something here. :lol

Not all of it but a fair portion was because some expected it to match LOTR in tone. Some of it was also because they wanted to trash the 48 FPS. Those two seemed to carry the largest percentage I complaints I saw most places from folks who didn't like it as much as LOTR or at all.

I think the quality of the film making was every bit as good. :dunno

Anyone see the new character posters? Pretty sweet. I might have to get a couple.

Yep, they are pretty cool, might get some for the collection! I like the ones of the Elves. I'm not too sure about the Bilbo one though...maybe its just me but something doesn't look quite right with that one...:dunno

I saw them they're pretty cool. I don't collector posters so the most I might do is save the digital file to a folder of other random stuff I have.
