I don't think I'm down with that. The Music Meister was awesome on The Brave and The Bold, because that show was all about camp and just gleeful fun. This...seems like they're trying way too hard, and yet people will eat this **** up because DCTV is "fun," and the movie's would be 1000x better, if they were this fun. I don't know. **** it, I'll still watch it, and at least we know they can actually sing. Joe was in ****ing Rent, for Christ's sake.
I don't know why these people, not only fans, but creators, as well, can't be open to a good story. *******, it seems like everything's "tone" this and "tone" that. If you focus on telling a good story that stays true to the characters, the appropriate tone will develop from that. You don't need to force it.
I like Zack Snyder's stuff, and I'll defend it, but I view it as just as much of an elseworlds story as Chris Nolan's, because, living in the real world? I can see how it'd probably bring out heroes down quite a few notches in terms of their absolute morality.
That being said, I also understand why people don't like his movies, because, to this point, they've been more of a deconstruction than anything. Veteran Batman becomes totally apathetic to the cause because he's been doing it for 20 years and "**** people," Superman can't seem to catch a break from people second guessing his intentions, so, in turn, he second guesses himself and wonders if he shouldn't just be like "**** people." Wonder Woman's been around for a long time and she's been retired for hundreds of years because "**** people."
I don't know. All this **** just makes me feel happier that movies like Logan exist. They didn't force a tone, they did the world building, told a good story, and the tone naturally flowed throughout the film. I wish DC would get their **** together, and, you know? Even Marvel, to a degree. I love 'em. God knows I do, but there is a degree of "paint-by-numbers" to a lot of them. Probably why the Netflix stuff is good; it's a bit more diverse. I still love **** like Guardians and TWS, but Civil War just made me kind of sad, as there weren't any stakes, whatsoever. Cap and Tony make goodie goodie at the end, and if someone doesn't think that's what that was, then, **** 'em, because you can't tell me they aren't going to be best bros who've got each other's backs come Infinity War. TWS set such a high bar, and the more I think about it, the only thing of value CW did was introduce us to Black Panther and Spider-Man, so, essentially, it was a glorified sizzle reel of "coming soon from Marvel Studios."
