40 lbs is heavy which is good to hear. I am fine with some hollowness but like you said with panther to hollow is not good. I was happy to see this weight and it made my desision to order easier. I hope this is an accurate weight and they don't make a major change to it when the piece is released. For the price I want some substance to this piece. It is Hulk after all.

Probably the base is 30 lbs.:cuckoo:

Careful that the differential expansion and contraction doesn't break the base.

That's what happened with my hello kitty piggy bank.

I mean.....

....my friend's hello kitty piggy bank.

Actually the base will likely be solid. That was the case for both Skaar and Black Panther.

Black Panthers base was solid?
I don't remember anything on that piece having any weight to it then I found his leg clean broken off! :panic:
I've had the chance to buy the Ex for less than I payed for the regular but don't like light cast pieces.

I must admit, i do like my statues to be quite hefty in weight. Kind of makes me feel like the money was well spent if you know what i mean rather than recieve something thats hollow...

I'd at least like the base to have enough weight to support the statue itself. I really don't need any top-heavy pieces in my collection.

I'm pretty sure that even if the base is partially hollow it will have some serious weight. My colossus pf is very heavy

That was not the case with Skaar. Someone in the Skaar thread said that his base has a piece that is rattling around in it. That means that it's not solid. I can't speak on the BP base, I don't own it nor have I seen it in person. I'm not claiming the base will be completely hollow on the maquette, but I'm fairly certain it will be hollow in some parts.

The maquette will still have some good heft to it. It will still be a well put together piece IMHO. However, it will not be solid. If it was, it would be heavier than the original PF. Both are 1/4 scale pieces of the same character and the base on the Maquette appears to be bigger than the original PF. That would mean that the Maquette should weigh more than the 51 lbs the PF does. It doesn't. Doing that math, that means that portions of the maquette will be hollow. That will include the base.

I really don't see a big deal if portions of this Maquette are hollow. It's still going to be around a 40 lbs statue. That seems plenty sturdy to me. Also, let's not forget that this is a KILLER looking piece.
