As long as you have the cash, other companies such as Prime 1 and Iron Studios and a few others have better human facesculps, but of course the downside is that they're either more expensive or not to a scale most would prefer or accommodate.

But so long as Sideshow have a stranglehold on the various licences at the 1/4 scale our options are severely limited.

We all know that Sideshow is a company where their artists impressions of a character is all that matters.

I may be wrong but I think I read that they refuse to use 3D scans of faces? Leaving it to their artists?

But given that more and more manufacturers are able to produce respectable human facesculpts far better then Sideshow indicates that they're falling behind the times.

Also their preferred use of materials on the headsculpts also hinders their accuracy.

So with this anger towards my sentiment, you think SSC was going for a 100% realistic portrait?

If that is the case this is a complete failure of a sculpture, I'm not sure what other way you can view this with no more room for the obvious stylization that was given to not only this portrait BUT the recent Gal Gadot, Batfleck, Henry Cavil, Bale and so forth, NONE of these are spot on, some are wildly not accurate to the source material.

Some people on here just get that way, do not take it personal!

To call it stlyized I think is justification or an excuse to put out a shoddy looking statue. Or maybe they're simply just not capable of putting out a product that looks like it did on film.

It's both, the sculptor's style is to create stylish looking characters because he is unable to sculpt realistically. That's why the Chris Reeves Superman looks stylish.

Then again, you have people like HeubertMichael who repainted the BvS Batman face and totally brought out the brilliant Affleck likeness that had been buried under there all along showing it was a production issue, not a talent one.

Yes but the facial likeness was lost because Sideshow painted the lips too thick.

But if stylized is what they're going for with these film PFs, then maybe they should just stick with the comic interpretations instead. Those are much better looking and fitting for their characters than a "stylized" version of say the Chris Reeve Superman or Ledger Joker they've done just looks awkward and inhuman. It shouldn't when it's based on real loving and breathing people.

I agree with everything you have said.

Yup yup. Blitzway is just insane with the realistic face sculpt too. Rocky was perfect

Yes they totally messed up the head shape, it looks the same as the DX11 head shape, especially the jawline, it should be more angular, have a square chin and the cheeks should bulge out. But instead it has a round jawline with a pointy chin with flat cheeks.

Hmmmmm.... I wonder how much better the sculpt would look if they could somehow match the hair... I think the greased back, wet hair look of the PF takes away from the accuracy of the sculpt... If makes his face look leaner as opposed to more full like the real photos... I know my face looks fuller when my hair is longer and more wild... Anyways It is what it is...

It's not the fullness of the face that's the problem, it's the shape of the face and lack of fullness in the cheeks. Ledger's face is square with bulging jaw bones and a square chin, thus his jawline is squre. The shape of the face on this is round with a pointy chin and flat jaw bones as the cheeks do not bulge out. No matter how the hair is stylied this will not change the shape of face even if it makes it look fuller. The fact is the jawline is inaccurate but that doesn't mean the entire sculpt is.

Great analysis on the head shape. Jaw and chin are definitely the wrong shape based on the photos. The facial likeness is still there for me though. Mine's at the local FedEx facility, so I should have it in hand tomorrow.

Thanks man! :hi5:

Yeah it's quite obvious that the jaw is the wrong shape, it's like a woman's jaw shape but with a long chin.

I am not saying it isn't, I am just saying I can't see it, which is why I would like to see this either repainted or the paint removed from it, to see if there is any facial likeness there. I use to think the EB sculpt had horrible facial likeness, until I saw it repainted.

Here I go again...

First off I do really like this statue, and imo except for the flames and the ******* detonator it's pretty darn nice but as usual, for me anyways, mine has some flaws.
First off there is some damage to his pants on his right thigh, the pics don't really show just how bad it is. It seems as though the statue was packaged to tightly and it really messed up the fabric there.
Second his right leg doesn't sit flush on the base, no matter how hard I try to push the peg in his foot still levitates ever so slightly above ground. Not sure if this would very cause a leaning problem later down the line.
And lastly I have two small paint chips, one on the base and one on his left shoe.

Not sure if I'm keeping this one, the pants and the tiny paint chips I can deal with but I'm really concerned about the integrity of the statue long term with the way only one foot is solid on the base.

Anyways here are some crappy cell phone pics.

Re: The Dark Knight Joker

He looks good from a distance but I cancelled mine, as much as I wanted the character I couldn't get past the face.

not one ounce of Ledger likeness there as far as I can tell. That's just one of the issues I see. Sorry to say, but it looks very cheap and plastic. You'd never guess this was a $400 item.

In person overall it really looks good, and I
Can be terribly nitpicky. Lol

He looks fantastic live. Blown up/washed out by flash pics are not the way to judge.

My nephew was ecstatic :) :) His first figure.....he's a huge Joker fan.

Tailoring on the clothes is outstanding.

I haven't been reading every comment but did anybody say anything about weak magnets.....I'm talking extremely weak magnets??
I feet like both hands and his head are going to fall off
I didn't even think the head was magnetized when I put it on at first
I really like the statue and sculpt but to be honest, I'm thinking of returning this....I know those hands are going to fall off :(

Hands on mine seem ok but the head magnet is weak, once the back piece was put on it seemed pretty solid.

Of course I also thought that the head wouldn't fall off my Modern Bats...

With shipping over $500. Definitely not worth it even at $400. Sorry, SS dropped the ball on this. I was not happy from the beginning. Just hoped they would pull a hot toys and make production figure better like they did with Afleck Batman 1:6.
