When the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart*

after the DS exploded and broke apart*

Rest of my post remains the same.

after your argument exploded and broke apart*:rotfl:rotfl

Oh wait, I got it, here’s the most logical explanation, wait for it....

It’s a movie about a make believe universe, so I say that one of those red projectiles is his throne room. If the overall film is good, I won’t let something that trivial deter me from liking it.

Just like I didn’t let utterly piss poor choreography during the Sarlacc pit battle deter me from liking RotJ as a whole. :wink1: :D

Of course you didn't - that honor was reserved for GL having a bunch of furry teddy bears with no technology defeat an entire legion of the Empire's finest troops. :slap :lol

It's just that incredibly low thresholds for believability like this - where even the most basic logic is dismissed with "it could happen - it's just a movie (feel free to insert "space wizards" here) - is what gives us movies like Last Jedi and Terminator-(any of last several films) etc.

Along with... a Palpy meat puppet with intact ROTJ throne and office in TROS. "You know me, you love me and I'm BAACCKKK! Mwahhahaha!" It's not so much JJ dreaming up pitifully lazy branded regurgitation like that - it's the people who give him license him to do it.

And yeah, I will ALWAYS agree to disagree with those people.

You're probably right, but I guess I'm just trying to keep hold of what little optimism I have left in that I'm hoping they've put some thought into how these things play out in TROS and aren't simply grasping at straws. IDK, I've been entertained by many of JJ's shows & movies over the years, so I'm willing to give him a shot at pulling a rabbit out of his hat on this one...

Yup, total garbage - just like Palpy's office lift-off in 10, 9, 8...:lol

You know you want to vigorously defend it by using a hypothetical Indiana Jones analogy. :lol

You?re going to let him take a shot like that at your beloved OT?

Maybe I'm the one who should use an Indiana Jones analogy. Like....what if the throne room was encased in the same lead that lined the refrigerator that saved Indy in KOTCS??

:chase

Well, interestingly, it's a little known fact that Belloq happened to be waiting for a meeting with Palps in the throne room on that day... had no idea the duel had just happened and Palps had been thrown down a bottomless shaft just a half hour earlier.

All he felt was a rumble from below, then a flash.:dunno

No need to even look outside of SW for hypotheticals. The Emperor seemed very prescient; maybe he knew all along the Rebels were going to destroy the DS, so he used the Force to create some sort of force shield around the throne room so it’d be shielded from the explosion and remain intact.

Could be, could be. Now that Leia went all Mary Poppins in space, all bets are off. We need to be prepared for anything! :lol

Man, I'm already looking forward to the fireworks in this (Oops, I mean TROS) thread come Thursday night/Friday. :lol

PT? Post-Trilogy? I just call it Geriatric Indy...:lol

Actually, PTSD Indy. For fans that is.

Positivity threads are only created... when they are needed.:monkey3:lol

When one starts using hypothetical situations from a completely different universe to justify a demonstrably poorly choreographed scene to protect the sanctity of their fond childhood memories, that might be a good time. :monkey3 :lol
