Ok you want more specific criticism if I skip this episode and even the one before it am I missing anything. No they dont build on one another they dont add to the over all story the last instruction in season 1 was to search for his kind and we are no where even close to it.

They already said it was going to be a procedural type of show and it. Like those cop shows were every episode is independent. Its nonsense with 8 episodes they cant write a story to fill 8 episodes. World building that's your comment what world he already knows the mechanic and he is not going back to the ice planet . Frog lady what is she another side character now her and her eggs.

People just want to give it a pass because its start wars . Put this up next to any other show its nonsense filled with fan service and great effects.

I only hope the marvel shows are better.

Patience, young padawan. :lol

Without these two episodes we'd start with Mando going to the planet where Frog Lady's husband resides in search of other Mandalorians, but we'd have no back story for how he knew to look there. He also wouldn't have Fett's armor with him, as he'd never met Cobb Vanth and helped kill that Krayt dragon. And (IMO) biggest of all, we wouldn't know that he has potential allies in the New Republic, as they are now aware that he's actually doing some good deeds out there. So when he inevitably has another confrontation with Moff Gideon we'll know why he has a few more people fighting alongside him.

There is just no way that these cgi level effects exist on a made for tv show there is just no way.

Season 1 had convinced me that while good the promise that lucasfilm had made when Mando was announced of cinematic quality effects was just not going to live up to that promise.

Season 1 was certainly better than all that made for Netflix sci-fi crap but I was a tad let down that it didn’t reach the heights of cinema.

Then season 2 arrives.

BAM!

IN YOUR FACE CINEMATIC LEVEL CGI BAM!

All of it every single second of it.

All seamlessly integrated with practical effects.

I am in awe.

Snyder cut is going to look like ass go watch that car flipping and blowing up behind the flash in the trailer lol

Then come back to that TV SHOW dragon, x-wing chase, rc crash landing slide and giant ice octopus spider.

BY alone has earned an oscar.

Well during the making of Season 1 (unlike Season 2) there wasn't a pandemic that shut down all of Disney's theatrical productions. So Disney's 2020 CGI budget probably had a little surplus that they could throw at Season 2 lol...

Baby Yoda: Alpha Predator lol

Did you see his face when Mando killed his kidnapper yikes.

I also loved that the rebels were dicks at the end.

I think calling something filler is just a lazy criticism.

He needs to find other Mandalorians. Frog Lady claims her husband knows where to find them, so he needs to help her in exchange for the information.

They are on their way there, or would you rather he just teleport from place to place and complete his goals in one episode? I dont think that slow pacing necessarily equates to filler.

What you call filler, I call world building. Plenty of new lore and info packed into this episode. We get go see more of the New Republic.

I suppose Luke going to Dagobah was just filler, especially since he gave up. He should have skipped that entirely, let his friends stay as prisoners and went straight to kill the Emperor.

I agree with you, but to move at this pace and also throw in filler episodes like season one did I think you need more than 8 episodes per season.

Again, you say we are nowhere even close to his goal, so would you rather he completed it in the first episode? The benefit over a TV show with 8 episodes vs a movie with 2 hours of runtime is that you can take your time by pacing it slower and building up the characters are the world surrounding them.

Worldbuilding doesn't just include the mechanic and the frog lady. It includes building upon the Tuskens and showing more of their culture and showing that they are more than just mindless savages, it's showing that the fall of the Empire wasn't great for everybody, especially those in the Outer Rim as slavers and crime syndicates took it as an opportunity to seize power. A Krayt Dragon can eat an entire Sarlacc. Things are being run differently under the New Republic. Need I go on? Plus it's the second time he's been to that planet, it's the same as the one in the opening to S1E1.

You clearly don't enjoy the show, that's fine, but nobody is giving it a pass just because it's Star Wars. I didn't give the Sequel Trilogy a pass "because it's Star Wars", I didn't give the **** video games from EA a pass "because it's Star Wars", if anybody is going to criticize Star Wars, it's Star Wars fans. Frog Lady is a side character, sure, but again she claims that her husband knows where to find Mandalorians (which is his goal), he needs to help her in order to obtain that information.

Yes, it may be filled with fan service, but it's done well enough that it's not obnoxious. It's a show made by Star Wars fans, for Star Wars fans. Star Wars is nonsense, its cheesy, its goofy, a lot of it doesn't really make any sense. It's part of the charm.
It's a filler episode I have only seen those on network tv episodes with 22 episodes. Take a show on netflicks were the seasons are short you dont get so see a filler episode . It contributes in one way or a another pushing the story or building upon the backstory of a character this felt like they need to fill time so let me create a side quest.

I mean even this go to another planet to see some other mandalorian we already seen them in season 1 so the mystic is gone . So those other mandalorian might know where baby yoda came from but the mandos in season 1 were total clueless. Especially the blacksmith who sounded wise as hell.

I remeber season 1 did not pick up till the final 2 episodes I kept waiting and waiting until the story picked up the pace. They are even doing a worse job here. There is literally nothing in these two episodes that grips you to watch the next episode so you cant wait until the next week to see it. Its probably some side quest or to this place and get this macguffin and meet this guy, nonsense. Let me just show you some fans service and cute shots of baby yoda to sell some toys.

It's like the last season of clone wars first 4 episodes were an absolute waste of time. But I need to fill an episode run but I only have a story for 4 episodes. So let me write some filler crap in between.

For all we know the frog lady spawn is actually more of ?the child? when it eventually hatches and that?s how he will get back to his own kind. Who knows?

But of course, that will not happen. I?m using an exaggerated example to say no-one but the writers know if ANY detail from these 2 episodes will be important or come up again, however a lot of people here seem to absolutely know they won?t and therefore the episodes are 100% ?filler?.

Please.

Solid episode. Can?t wait for next week.

Why, if this is a multi-season show tho? There's always the background goal. Clone Wars and Rebels both have episodes with different treatments. Some episodes are fun; some build a relationship, some are more direct dealing with actions/consequences.

If I like something, I wanna spend more time in that world. Or I think more should have been done, like IMO there should have been a film pre-Infinity War showing what Cap was up to, for one thing. How BW tracked him down.

Favreau and Filoni could have wound this whole thing up in one season if they wanted to - one and done and that's it. Don't think there's any episodes that haven't been character building and feel like a natural flow of Din D'jarin dealing with the end consequences of his decision. Like Season 1 Sorgan - it's a logical choice Mando tries to place the Child someplace safe. The events of that show explain why now, he feels he can't leave the Child anywhere, safely. Plus Cara was introduced.

If that had never happened folks would be *&^%$ why someone is dragging a baby all over the galaxy.:bunnydanc

Had no issue with visuals/lighting last season - the desert scenes, the canyons, even the amazing close-ups of the blurrgs - how they upped the ante working under Covid conditions - is mind blowing:clap:clap:clap. The lighting alone is stunning - there's a few frames with the sun behind the X-wings I gotta get screenshots of. IMO as impressive as TFA's Jakku shots or TLJ last fight, some of my favs in all SW.

Just the way light filters down through the snow. :clap Mixed with some great shots of the Child looking through glass, and so on. Deserves every industry award they can throw at this show IMO.

I think the overall narrative of this show might be hurting the show. I enjoyed the episode and it?s cinematic appearance but once you realize the story was going tangent it can become frustrating. Which is unfair to the episode alone because it looked great. We as the viewer already know the show has 8 episodes to tell the grand narrative which also goes against the show because it does not allow for free time (ie this episode). Side note the spider scenes are perfect for a feature film (ie mynocks in ESB)

I really can't refute any of your guys' complaints. Everything you're saying is correct, I just happen to find the things that put you guys off as just another part of the show's charm.

I don't hate the show.. I just find it incredibly overrated which I think impacts my enjoyment of it.

Like I said.. If this was not a SW show I know I would not watch it.. I wonder how many would.

So I thought I was nuts for thinking this but I discussed this with one of my friends and he agreed.

I have been saying this reminds me of a TV show.. I said way back that it reminded me of the Ewok movies in its look.

I have always felt that this show had an ABC network feel to it. There are times that it just has a look / sound / feel, I dont know what, ABC TV feel. I mean Im talking straight up Heart to Heart and Moonlighting.. :lol

My friend pointed out ABC was owned by Disney and that the Ewokes movies was an ABC movie.

Im not saying that the show is not better quality.. But there is an ABC tv channel feel to it that those older shows had.. And my still have.. IDK I dont watch regular tv anymore.

My friend said that he knew what I was talking about.. Any others out there pick up that vibe? It's fine if you still think Im nuts.. But its there. :lol

Not with S2.

Oh and I thought the last episode was Ok.. There were times I was into it. Mostly the X-Wing chase.

I really dislike Peli Motto character. Just pure Cringe.

I think its still there. Not the Krate scene.. But everything else about it..

Its the sound the and look.. It just has ABC all over it :lol

The show really lacks a cinematic quality.. It is better this season Ill grant you.. but its still got it.

It's as Star Wars as Star Wars has been since 1983 :dunno
