I totally agree on the quality and tone of this episode. Hell this may be the first ep of both seasons where Stormtroopers weren't portrayed as a joke. They were adversaries to be avoided if possible and actually displayed a modicum of competence (I was shocked to see the two Stormies diving out of the way of Cara's charging troop carrier and *not* going over the edge, lol.)

The Biker Scout pulling the Indiana Jones move with the thermal detonator was actually pretty badass despite pausing just a little too long before releasing his charge.

Yep! I'm so sick of the running stormtroopers-are-nothing-but-a-joke gag. Once or twice is fine, but at some point it turns the whole universe into a joke. This episode got it right, imo, and I completely agree with your take. The troopers are there to simply be an obstacle, and their incompetence has always been an innocently necessary evil that we smirk at and understand. Using it deliberately for laughs in a breaking-the-fourth-wall sort of way has a questionable benefit/detriment ratio for me.

[...] trying to inject midichlorian blood into human test subjects in tubes

I love how they called it "M count" so as to avoid using the actual term "midichlorian" on screen. :lol Acknowleding it without actually focusing on it. Perfection!

I'm starting to get giddy at the idea of some early Snoke/Zombie Palps expiriments. :D

Dammit, maybe this show will be what I need to finally accept that stuff. Here's hoping. :lol

Did I miss something in the very last scene? What were the rows of black armor supposed to be?

This just me hypothesizing, but they showed the lab with row of clones or experiments of some sort then showed the rows of those black trooper suits so my brain automatically assumed they had been using the baby?s midichlorians to try and make some kind of Force powered troopers.

They look like Phase 1 Dark Troopers to me.

I'm suspicious of this whole Rosario as Ahsoka thing.

With them bringing Katee Sackhoff back to portray Bo-Katan, I just don't see how they don't have Ashley Eckstein back as Ahsoka.

I'm prepared for some Padme-decoy type stuff with Ahsoka.

This episode gave me a very VERY OT vibe

Agreed; same here. :rock

It probably also helps that this episode brought back this series' version of their "Big 3" and had them work together throughout. There's something to be said for that team dynamic in SW that injects more fun into it.

Heroes getting each other's backs and shooting their way out of Imperial bases? YES, PLEASE!

This was one of my favorite episodes so far. Loved the call backs to Ep IV Death Star scenes with the group having to avoid Stormtroopers going about their routine patrols.

Hope Carl Weathers gets some more episodes to direct.

I don't think Eckstein could pull off the look of Ahsoka honestly. And it may just come down to something as simple as scheduling conflicts at the end of the day.
I'm sure Filoni knows what he's doing, Ahsoka is his baby after all and I doubt he'd make a decision like this lightly.

I reckon she could have done a good job but she only did a very small amount live action work in the early 2000s. Since Clone Wars she has only done voice work.

Did they? I missed that, lol. Can't wait to revisit it again tonight to see what else I missed.

Indeed, lol.

Sith Troopers

:chase

:yess: lol

This episode gave me a very VERY OT vibe with a splash of Shadows of the Empire and Dark Forces.

This looked more OT than GL SE version of the OT.

Wow so true on the Dark Forces vibe.

I had pretty much written off any obvious ties to the ST but now that they already seem to be hinting at trying to inject midichlorian blood into human test subjects in tubes I'm starting to get giddy at the idea of some early Snoke/Zombie Palps expiriments. :D

I wish they would stay away from stuff like midichlorian counts no matter how tempting it might be to "do it better". And I really have to believe Favreau is smart enough not to soil the golden goose by connecting to the ST in any meaningful way.

I hope Mando ends up smuggling a bunch of baby Snokes so that you can think of that every time you look at your $350 TVC Razor Crest, lol.

;)

IMO Dark Troopers has nothing to do with the Force. I'm pretty sure those botched clones are Snokes. And they want The Child's blood for more of these clones so they will eventually accept the blood and become powerful with the force and able to soak in Palpatine.
