Basically live action Bad Batch.

*lobs grenade into room*

Is it even that good yet, tho? What about this episode came close to this season's episode 3 or the most recent episode of TBB? Its had filler, true. But this whole episode of Mando seemed pretty filler-y to me. With the exception of the throne room scene.

Next week better knock my socks all the WAY off.

I do love me some Grogu, but he is just filler. Face it. There has been much complaint over Omega, but at least Omega does stuff!! What does Grogu do? He spins chairs, eats macaroons and coos. He is adorable and he does ZILLLCCCHHHH for the storyline.

I said what I said, me buckos. Aye, and the sore truth it be.

Hey i’m happy you guys prefer wimpy Mandos that run away from a fight i’ll stick with my brave lunatic Mandos thank you very much lol

BoBF:

Boba: its a good day to die.

Mando: it sure is. This is the Way! Lets go out in a blaze of glory.

I wanted to effing shout at the screen STOP IT YOU TWO MORONS lol

I haven't watched Bad Batch in a while so I can't 1to1 compare these two shows. I've heard the last episode of BB was good. Some have said better than ep1 of season 3 of Mando.
I think overall Mandalorian is very similar to the Filoni cartoon shows. Adventure of the week, side quest type episodes.
Handful of good episodes with a lot of more "filler" like episodes.

I didn't expect or want them to run away but I'd have thought these super elite warriors would have fought more tactically and more intelligently.
It was a way into the fight before they used their jetpacks. They were fighting point blank instead of using their ranged weapons... at range.
None of them were using melee weapons that were at point blank range.
Only a couple used their flamethrowers etc.
I'd believe them more capable warriors if they stayed at range and used their jet packs from the start of the fight.
Made better (or more extensive use) of their flamethrowers and other more exotic weapons and more explosives. And not try to use their tether line things on it.
Once they saw how ineffectual shooting its armored back and sides with their blasters was, they could have switched targets. Aimed a lot more for the inside of the mouth etc.
If you want brave lunatic Mandos charging into point blank range, they could have at least been armed with melee weapons, go full on barbarian.

Sorry @jye4ever ... thinking about it ... the laughably incompetent "elite warriors" was probably the single biggest misstep in the series to date. Feared, elite, legendary warrior cult are *actually* a bunch of clowns. They didn't come off as aggressive lunatics, they just looked dumb as a bag of hammers -- sorry, err -- hydrospanners.

Any respect I had for the great Mandalorian Warrior Tradition is just gone. No wonder the Empire wiped the floor with them and turned their planet to glass.

Fights between humans using elite special forces are never perfectly executed things become messy and improvised within seconds.

Fights between human elite special forces against KAIJU are 1,000 X WORSE!

As of yet LOL.

It's definitely a fun show -- at its best. Given that it's been uneven since S1 I don't expect much so I guess that's why I generally enjoy it. Kind of the way I watched Xena and Hercules back in the day.

Definitely sick of Grogu, and not a fan of resurrecting fan favourites but hey, there's a massive audience for this sort of thing and currently I'm part of it, critical or not.

If it spirals and reaches BoBF or Kenobi levels of cringe, I'll immediately cancel because life is too short.

Just to be perverse:wink1: I'll rant on the negativity vibes, which clearly is nothing more than the perverse human tendency of familiarity breeding contempt combined with immersion with a video game culture which demands explosions and geysers of blood every 20.3 seconds, along with the introduction of new characters every 7.8 minutes.

This show is a MIRACLE of narrative:lecture, skillfully helmed by a gifted creator whose experiences have been honed to a razor edge by both media failures and successes, under whose leadership innovative technology combined with old school practical effects bring theater quality visuals to our living rooms. Along with the brilliant introduction of new characters into the SW universe that have been embraced worldwide, Favreau wisely understands the concept of pacing and building a story, interweaving quiet interludes with action. No detail is overlooked, from the light changes within a ship cockpit to Grogu playfully using the Force to spin a chair around, or sliding under Mando's shoulder strap before a gun battle. Effective music enhances stunning poster worthy visuals.

I'll completely stand by my current feeling of awed joy and anticipation:nana:, indifferently dismissing any negativity as folks who have been overwhelmed by too much quality until something happens that *&^% me off and then everything I think will also be completely correct and said flaws well deserving of my insults😁. Probably any episode where Filoni is handling the script by himself, like when the unkillable Ahsoka shows up again to remind the *general audience* to keep their D+ subscriptions.

Andor makes me feel stressed, tense and paranoid I LOVE IT!

Mando makes me feel like i’ve been transported back to my childhood opening Kenner boxes I LOVE IT!

I’ll gladly embrace both thank you very much!

BOBF transported me back to my wedding day lol

I wasn't fazed by the grappling hook thing; IMO the ropes/lines weren't the point, so much as shooting something painful at said kaiju/crocodile. In hindsight, probably not the BEST choice after that alligator roll.:monkey3

LOL ... bit of a straw man there but okay, I see your intent even though I disagree with the example.

This show is a MIRACLE of narrative:lecture,
Not really. It re-packages well-worn tropes and succeeds spectacularly from time to time, is passable most of the time and sometimes fails miserably.

Absolutely yes to this -- that dogfight in the asteroid field was a joy to watch, plain and simple.

My issue is not the confusion of battle, my issue is that they ignored Sun Tzu and stood there to fight the Kaiju in its element when they very clearly did not have to.

For real.

Andor makes me feel like cracking open a bottle and go out staring at a bleak night sky, thinking, "what's it's all about, really?" and taking a long draw on a cigarette, 'coz why not.😁

Mando makes me feel like "time to get the kayak out".:mexwave

BOBF = thank gawd there's something to watch, Fennec, and "i wonder if Mando will show up?":taz

Well, srsly, I don't see it that way, tho I can see folks' point. Can't comment on TBB as grimly holding on so I can binge watch.

But, I view Mando as whole, and look hope for the time I can happily binge watch. Viewed overall, I wasn't expecting a lot from this episode - there'd been a huge break between S2 and S3. But, we'd had a fairly intense episode with BOBF and a lot of stuff went on. Also, S2 opened with a bang.

Somewhere I heard a drama coach mention the "beats" of a scene. Hadn't thought about it, but for me Mando's whole arc are have "beats" in the story. I started respecting what Favreau could do with quieter moments watching the first IM, and Tony assembling his suit in-house. In less skilled hands, all that could have been as boring AF.

Same thing with Mando building the starfighter, and it serves a point bringing the audience along. Anyway IMO opening S3 with something huge would have been fatal at this point in time. Instead, open quieter and build through the season. Hopefully. There's stuff I don't like in Mando, for sure. But there's stuff in the original SW I don't like either.

So so far I remain happy 😁 . Grogu IMO remains fascinating and adorable. And hopefully (since Favreau sez so) there's gonna be a lot of Mando wrestling with the tension between his sworn code and a world that keeps forcing him to rethink things. Also hopefully there's more about Moff Gideon; 2 seasons in and so far we know little about his motivation or who he answers to, if anyone.

Yup, I love my Militaristic Mando’s. Not these M&M colored Cultists we’ve been seeing. Hope Bo makes Mandalore great again.

Seeing as a lot of people are nit-picking this episode to death, I've decided to slip on my Captain Pedantic (tm) underoos.
The giant Crocoturtle fight lasted approximately 2 minutes 70 seconds give or take, before Din turned up to give it good seeing too.
The cave seemed pretty shallow and the Mando's were intent on getting the foundlings out of the way and to safety, tactically they tired to blow the back of the shell off and yet 4 thermal detonators did Jack, so they switch it up to trying to restrain it and shoot it in the soft part of the mouth, whilst employing flame-throwers. Given the brevity of the entire affair I'd say they were giving it a pretty good go. As far as I can tell they only suffered one casualty, an unfortunate unnamed Mando who I shall call Tim, may he be long remembered.

Although I personally enjoyed this episode, it is the weakest of the series openers thus far as it's all setup. It's also full of whimsy, which even though I'm more of a miserable git I do like some whimsy in my Star Wars. I do appreciate that some fans do not, so you're mileage may vary.

The way though that some YouTubers etc, have set on this episode like a pack of ravening curs gleefully declaring that the Mandalorian is over seem a tad premature. I guess we'll see over the coming weeks.

IMO click-click bait bs, from folks who have the attention span of people on a sugar rush from their energy drinks. This is why there were many who announced that Andor was boring.

And why we can't have nice things.:banghead
