It's a real head-scratcher that certain people, i.e. blind-as-fools sequel trilogy fanboys are absolutely fine with rey being a perfect force-user but this baby-Yoda creature using the force (which wears him completely out by the way) is non-sense in their completely messed-up thought processes. Those people by God will not accept anything that isn't sequel trilogy. It's like they worship garbage.

Wow......guess you are the end all be all decider of whats good for people to like and not like huh?

How should we all feel about Pecan Ice cream? Do tell, we all cannot wait to hear your pronouncements....

Aside from reminding me a little too much of someone dying on the toilet (a fairly common phenomenon) I didn?t have a problem with Luke?s demise. I?m just glad I got to see him take on an AT-AT (albeit as a projection).

And it was established as far back as the PT that Force users could have bursts of extreme power followed by a recovery period (though it wasn?t shown to be ?exhausting? as such).

Post-Lucas SW will cop flak whether it?s too similar or too different. They?re damned if they do and damned if they don?t.
To me, Yoda looked pretty drained after moving Luke?s X-wing out of the swamp in ESB.

Well, just watched the first two episodes. It?s alright, but there are some clear jumps ? as if they just had to move ahead, and skipped all logic. Overall, it?s okay, but a bit over-hyped. The Jawas were cool in the episode, but there were a few things that made me roll my eyes in that 2nd episode.

Yeah, to me the appeal is a bit like what TFA was - a major palette cleanser after something SW that left a very bad taste in my mouth. For TFA that was the PT (TFA was joyous only because I could actually follow the story and it had OT hardware - even if it was all 100% lifted from ANH,) and for Mando it's the ST, and TLJ in particular.

I like seeing something so realistic, what it would be really like to walk the streets of Mos Eisley, which I often imagined as a kid. And so often with minimal to no dialog or exposition, vs the ST's wall-to-wall chatter and yahooing and explaining.

And it's pretty much a deep dive into OT fan service. The sandcrawler sequence was especially cool - almost reminded me of the SNES game from the 90s (which made the Jawa cry especially sinsiter) crossed with the Last Crusade sequence.

That being said, the show almost feels like a fan made film, though in the best way possible - fan movies would jam in all the high-carb SW bits into a short 1/2 hour, like this show does.

The baby Yoda looks too much like a stuffed toy or obvious CGI, and again has that aspect of taking something/someone major from the OT to hijack as your OT crutch. I mean he's already Boba Fett in his weekend armor, I didn't need one of the "big dozen" iconic SW characters to show up in a slightly altered form.

I'm really enjoying the show though - it's like a breath of fresh air and hits everything I would have loved as a kid: a walk through a real SW universe with a cool badass as your guide.

Can someone please tell me what in the name of god is going on with Carano?s legs.

Look at her right leg holy crap :horror

I think the only thing that diminishes the baby Yoda's impact was the appearance of "Yaddle" in Episode One.

That ugly female Yoda puppet was probably thrown in as a little sight gag (It's Yoda...but he's a chick, get it??? ha ha ha!) but it really did hurt the idea of Yoda being a very unique and rare creature; so rare that we don't even know the name of his species.

Seeing two of them sitting in the same room pretty much cheapened that in an instant.

Maybe the tried course correcting after that, cause we didn't see Yaddle again, right?

Seeing the baby Yoda revel was cool and of course almost unbearably "cute"....but imagine the impact it would have had if Yaddle had never been on screen. If this was the first time we'd seen another of Yoda's species, it would have been way better.

As it is, that might be one of the main reasons I enjoyed the first episode so much: it surprised me. Almost NOTHING surprises me any more. The Joker was a fine movie, but there wasn't a single frame of it that I didn't see coming a mile away. When the Mando was after a "50 year old" I expected him to be looking for Bill Burr, to be honest. I honestly was surprised to see that adorable little mogwai like Yoda come into the frame.

Mad props to all the people at Lucasfilm that managed to keep such an important surprise under wraps. I feel bad for people that have that spoiled...it's all over the front page of yahoo and twitter and stuff now. What a shame....cause that was a pure joy to actually experience a "surprise" again in a TV show or movie.

But one of the things that caused people to immediately turn against the ST was that Rey was using the Force proficiently in TFA without having had any training. I think that type of complaint would fall under what you describe as "something major or something otherwise fundamental that ruined their enjoyment." Yet, when a *baby* Yoda (not shown to have any training . . . yet) uses the Force to lift a huge rhino-type creature, no one complains.

The Rey thing seemingly wasn't/isn't just a "small" or "minor" problem with many people. So when something like that is a major sticking point (and objected to ad nauseam for 4 years) in one case, it's curious how it can be perfectly acceptable in another case.

Another "major" objection has been how Luke died. Some mock how he died from "using the Force too hard," because in their minds (apparently) using the Force to make a convincing projection of yourself on another planet shouldn't be so draining. "Why would using the Force be physically taxing?" Then baby Yoda passes out from lifting the furry Rhino and suddenly it makes sense that "using the Force too hard" would have a physical toll.

If Jawas aren't exclusive to Tatooine, how are they getting to other planets? Do they have some giant ship that drops off a colony of them along with the exact same type of sandcrawler? If so, it's kinda weird that they'd be scavenging junk all the time with those types of impressive resources. :lol

I beleive in The Clone War episode where Palaptine is stealing babies who are force sensative, these babies were are able to use the force to move things but they were not all powerful in the force, just able to do some basic parlor tricks with the force. So I'm guessing some species are born that can figure out how to use the basic force like they figure out how to crawl, walk and talk, it's instinct. The Yoda baby is 50 years old so I imagine he's had time to figure out some basic force tricks unlike Rey who didn't even know she was force sensative was able to became a Jedi Master with a flick of a switch. Even so, the baby Yoda did pass out when pushing his abilities to the limits which was just lifting an animal. So there is a HUGE difference between Rey and the Yoda baby.

The issue a lot of fans had with Rian Johnson was he was creating all sorts of new force powers, 1) Force Ghosts can call down lighting strikes to affect things in the living world. 2) Force projecting that allows you to project yourself anywhere in the universe. 3) Force Video Chat, the ability to appear in another force users head like your really there.

These new force powers open up a can of worms. For example, why can't yoda just show up anytime he wants and kill all the bad guys with lightining? In the end most fans just found the whole force projection thing as the reason why Luke dies just extreamly lame.

So Jawas make a living off scrap, people do that in real life. They also live in a universe where you can just buy a ticket and go to any planet, so your saying it's impossible to believe that Jawas couldnt' save up enough money to pay a cargo ship to move them to another planet? Not really seeing the stretch your trying to imply in your argument.

Well said. Rational and sensible.

Unlike some of the crazy ramblings about SW as of late.

Another thing that bothered me, was why did Bayoda (baby yoda) have white hair?

We know other of his species have different color hair.

As far as I can tell, no one here hates The Mandalorian. There must be some seriously deficient reading comprehension going on.

For the record (since I'm the one who made the "not trained" comparison; and NOT as a complaint about the baby Yoda): I think The Mandalorian has been fine so far. It'll probably get even better considering we're only 1/4 of the way through the season. Again: no complaining, and no hate, from me with respect to this show so far. Just to be clear (hopefully . . . but probably not).

*Shrug* this is Favreau, who has the sense to BUILD to something, logically. Like IM1 all those great scenes of Tony BUILDING. It's a fine line to incorporate enough realism to lead to something but not bore audience. Like those just those scenes of IM preflight check are awesome.

I think Favreau is doing the same here, which IMO is epic. Here it's introducing the concept of the Force, and suspect the Mandalorian is gonna get tested.

I look forward to binge-watching when all chapters are out.

Favreau AND Kennedy...

Never forget.

Surely they could cast Sharon Stone as a SW character and have the two meet in a Cantina for a sit down...
