Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I'm not sure why they didn't offer 3G in all the devices though.

Well I think the price difference is the reason, if someone's more interested in the device just for something to take on the road to read or watch stuff they load onto it from their computers, then they can save by not buying one with the extra tech. For my purposes, the 3G is unnecessary, I'd consider it, but my main reason for getting this would be the photo application which doesn't require that and I like that the 3G-less versions cost less.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Don't you have to get a data plan anyways?

No, but if you have the 3G and use it you do get billed on the account you have to set up. I don't remember the details, but the article I read said that when you set up and activate the iPad you'll have to supply a credit card for billing reasons, and it charges you as you go.

~~This is just my opinion, but 3G isn't fast enough for me. I use it on my phone every once in a while, but I deal with the speed because I realize its on my phone...but when I connect to my wireless network it does zoom zoom much better. I'll just bypass the 3G version and keep it connected to my wireless network, and just suck it up that I don't need to download anything until I get home.

:lecture This too. Sean, did you hear that all the accessories have been delayed until the end of the month??? I was planning on getting the carrying case and the camera kit, but I guess I'll have to wait.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

No, but I wasn't planning to get it right away anyhow, I don't have any gigs coming up to start putting it to use right away, but it's still very exciting that the very type of device and price I've been looking for will now exist.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I'm passing on this for now. With the iPhone "HD" set to be released in June I'd rather go that route especially if even half the rumors are true and wait for the 2G iPad that is sure to be hitting by next summer...

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Yeah, I'd wait

Main things I want them to change:

-Make it widescreen
-invert the back shape (doesn't lie flat, invert it and it'll be perfect)
-integrated webcam

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Gonna wait for the iPad 2nd gen. Hopefully that will have a webcam. I think a 2nd gen model will be out before next summer.

I did. The Apple store opened at 9 today so I got there about quarter to 8. They had quite a line, but luckily I was one of the first peeps there so I was one of the first to get one that didn't have it on preorder.
~~I've been playing with it for about 30 minutes so far and love it. Very, very fast in comparison to the OS on the iphone and the revised applications are incredible in comparison to before. iBooks is awesome, and I see it catching on really quickly. I've already downloaded 10 of the free classic books that they have in the store and purchased "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" for $10.
