As far as using this for the PS3, Sony would need to develop the app, correct? Is there a chance this could get hacked?

Also, does anyone think this will actually happen now that Sony has said they are going to release an iPad competitor?

I really thought this would have happened by now with the iPhone/app store.

Its already hacked. Just nee a couple weeks for a public release. They might even wait until after the 3G is shipped before they release a public package.

I don't see why someone would pick this over a laptop. Laptops come in all sizes and are cheaper, do far more and you can upgrade them.

I would love one of these. To sit on the coffee table when I watch tv or when I'm chilling in bed and can't quite sleep. A laptop (even the mini ones) are still larger. This is a simple device that you can use to do many things. That's how I see it.

It didn't last more than a couple months. I think the Phillips CDi sold more than the Pippin did.

I actually had a 3DO back when it came out. It was the same deal as the Pippin and CDi. They were all WAAAAY overpriced and the early CD games used way too much FMV.

They all were simply too overpriced for the quality of games they had. But they weren't really meant for games, they were supposed to be more of a home VCD/CD system though VCD never caught on over here like it did in Japan. This would have happened to the PS3 too had Blu-ray lost the format war.
