Here's an accurate analysis of the iPad.........

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Jim Lee bought an iPad and using an app called "Sketchpad" did these:

Using only the finger swipe and the layering effects. While I'm no Jim Lee, you can't do this on your iPhone or a laptop and it'd be fairly fun to see how artistic you can get with it. The reality is that its a big iPod Touch but some of the apps coming out with it won't make sense on such a small screen and that has me excited to have one. It won't replace my iPhone or my laptop but serve as an eReader, portable movie player, for games and for surfing the web without squinting on the go. I still don't want the 3G version because I don't want to pay for another data plan but I think it'll be more than a gimmick. This is also why I'm willing to wait for one because its not a necessity.

Now this is interesting for those artists out there and for in classroom creativity. Now I hope this app can be run while listening to music as that helps with painting.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

They should give an iPad away for every time they destroy one. Some people spend their entire paychecks just to get something like an iPad (and work very hard)....and then those people get one for free or with company money and ____ing destroy it?

You missed the mark more than Michael Bay when he made Pearl Harbor.

Just because it's possible to paint doesn't make it actually useful. It's not that accurate and doesn't have pressure sensitivity so it makes it much harder to get things as they could with a drawing tablet on a regular computer.

Or a piece of paper--which is much cheaper.

Lol....old school FTW!!! My brother went to school for art and design and you'd be surprised how much those colored pencils cost at the supply store. I remember going with him to pick up a pack of pencils and it was almost $30 for a 5 pack.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Anyone get the comic reader yet? I'm curious how well it works.

I'm waiting for more reviews before I decide which one to get. There's a free one, but the user reviews say that it crashes frequently and that you have to convert everything to their file format. There is another App that is $15 that seems worth it as it supports all the comic formats natively without conversion, but there's only 2 reviews so far and both of them just say "Works great!!" without any explanation. WTF is the point of writing a review if that's all you're gonna say???

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Keep us updated on the comic front because I'd be interested in getting an iPad for something like that.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Well I asked for some iTunes gift cards for my Bday this weekend so I might just use some of those and buy the App to try it out. So far I've been really good and only managed to buy 1 book!! First book I'm reading on the iPad is "Rogue Warrior" by Richard Marcinko.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Not an overly important thing, but do they sell special cleaning cloths or solutions to take care of the tough screens with these devices? The only touch screen device I own is my LG phone and it didn't come with anything I just use a soft cloth for cleaning eye glasses to remove the fingerprints every once in awhile. I'd also be curious how noticable fingerprints are on this device.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

The iPhone 3GS uses the same type of screen, and while they are fingerprint magnets they wipe off pretty easily (and some of the clear screen protectors are very good).

I wipe my iPhone screen with all kinds of stuff (even on my jeans at times)... never a scratch. I've even dropped it face down :)google) and nada. It's pretty good stuff, whatever they're using. But if you can't stand any fingerprints at all you'll lose your mind trying to keep it pristine.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Ok I tried Comiczeal it looks great I like how easy it is to use. Anyone know how to load my books onto the Ibook app I couldn’t figure it out?

Good to know, I'm not obsessive about it, just know that it's necessary once in awhile and was curious because it's one thing to treat a $150 phone compared to devices like Apple's touch screen products, lots more money involved.
