Count me in. I've been holding off on buying a Jean Gray piece, which has been REALLY tough. An AH spin on the character is just enough to put me over the edge.

I guess Phoenix has a longer history than Black Queen, hence the persistent request of her compared to Black Queen. Nevertheless, I'm all for AH work and have utmost confidence this will be another sell-out pc. I'm sure many critics here will be silent and at awe once the full sculpt is revealed. Infact most would drool on the artwork its based :)

Jean = Phoenix = Black Queen = Marvel Girl
That stupid retcon that ruined the Dark Phoenix saga is no longer. It has been unretconned in recent runs like Claremont and Morrison's last run and Endsong where it stated Jean was and always will be Phoenix. It's in Jean's very blood and nature.

She's had various aliases and costumes so I'm sure it was a hard choice to decide which version to make. I can't wait to see what this fully looks like. I'm just glad Jean is being made.

Now hopefully there is a Jean/Phoenix PF!

Yup, I was just going to say that; Black Queen/Phoenix was re-retconned back into being the true Jean Grey...make no mistake this is a Jean Grey comiquette.

And DS, I understand the disappointment...I actually expected more people to be excited about this because I remember it was mentioned many times that people wanted a bookend piece to go along with Emma (Unless it was one person and I'm projecting it on the masses). Though I prefer Jean Grey as Phoenix or Marvel Girl, I'm still anxiously awaiting the piece (It's a definite purchase for me)...and the more I think about it, the more awesome a Jean/Emma combo looks in my head.

And it's interesting to note that Maddy Pryor is making her return in Brubaker's Uncanny X-Men by forming a new Sisterhood of Evil Mutants...and Maddy Pryor has donned the Black Queen costume; that said, the Black Queen (even if it's Jean clone) is making somewhat of a comeback lately.

Rogue is my first AH!, but this is actually a version of Jean I would buy. I'd agree that there are too many Phoenix/Dark Phoenix merchandise out there.

But now I have to go back and get Emma...

I was thinking the same thing. I just bought Emma off the Bay a few hours ago. I have a good feeling that this piece will be the perfect companion piece to the AH White Queen. Black and White always go well together.:joy

In my opinion, Jean Grey is not associated to Black Queen soThat is not the Jean we all have in our minds.
And Allison, Keep up the good work...you'll always be the best!!! It's not that I don't like her like that...It's that we will never have her like this

This line bores me.White queen was the only homerun IMO.

I'm sorry you didn't get your AH Hulk in a thong with exclusive dildo attachment.:gun:angelsmil

Sideshow finally does something different for once other than Hulk, Iron Man and Thing. Good for them.

This isn't really my thing, but if it was and I had the White Queen I'd be really excited about this one. I think it'll be a great piece as have the other pieces in the line so far. I wouldn't give up on a phoenix or marvel girl statue from Sideshow somewhere down the road. I see this line as a subset of their regular line with the focus being more on Adam Hughes and his work as opposed to highlighting the Marvel character themself.

Well I can't say I'm not disappointed in the replies to this tease. With over 20 statues out there representing Jean in her Phoenix persona, I guess we thought something more unique would be appreciated bythe collectors. We thought for sure if it was a Phoenix we'd get alot of "Not another Phoenix; how un-original" comments out of the fans and collectors.

When Adam started designing this one, I don't think there were any others that featured Jean as the Black Queen aside from the small bust. We thought not only would it be cool to finally have this character, but what a great match to Adam's Emma Frost. And we thought we'd bring you guys something you didn't have a dozen of already.

As for those of you that are commenting that Adam or Sideshow went for the "S and M factor", I'm very surprised to read this. Shame on you. If you are familiar with Adam's work, then you know he always depicts his women sexy and strong, he never degrades or reduces them to purely sexual objects. And Sideshow respects the license far too much to allow that sort of non-sense. Fans may choose to see nothing but smut; but that is in the viewer's eye, and not Adam's artistic intent.

This is a classic representation of Jean Gray. This is a John Byrne costume design for goodness sake. Feel free to not like it; and feel free to not order it. But please don't say such harsh and un-true things about Adam and the guys at Sideshow. As his girlfriend, I think I'd know first, and best, if Adam was the kind of guy that would treat women; fictional or real, with such contempt.

Ultimately I'm sorry there isn't more excitement about this tease. I've been waiting so long to tell you guys about it, waiting to share my excitement about how GORGEOUS the scultp on it is, etc etc. I guess I'll just wait til the next one. :(

Allison I love it! I don't care who the character is as long as it's Adam's. Don't let these boys get ya down cause I know this will sell out for sure. However feel free to have him make Scarlet Witch and Ms. Marvel :joy

Excellent point- I do have the White Queen and I think a paired display ( no double entendre intended) will go together nicely.

With Rogue due soon and suggestions that several other pieces are on the way the future of this series looks good- I was always going to restrict myself to the purchase of the Marvel characters I knew but AH has made me think again.

:rolleyes:Don't you just love when people talk for the 90% of collectors. Where was the poll taken that proved 90% would prefer Phoenix? I am sure a Jim Lee version would have gotten alot of votes along with an original MG Jean Grey.

I do bulls! I actually am glad it's not Phoenix cause she's been overdone and needs a rest but I would have still bought her even if it was cause I love AH's work

Just in time for Spooktacular! Adam Hughes has sent along a sampling of his amazing artwork that hints at what our next AH! Comiquette will be! We think Marvel fans will be quite happy to see this fiery vixen added to our popular AH! Collectible line! Enjoy!

Re: The Next AH! Comiquette Will Be?.

Personally, I'm intrigued. I wanted a Jean in the line, but I figured it'd probably be a Phoenix or Jim Lee version, and I figured I'd just end up passing. Probably won't pass on Black Queen though.
