Dammit, Karma. I was just about ready to post up a screen of me going 50-1. You're such a ****** pickle.
FMJ does not = faster kills. FMJ is only useful when shooting through walls or objects. the way the game is set up, shooting through a wall or an object normally will decrease the power of your shots if you hit your opponent. FMJ reverses this and acts as if the wall or object is not there at all. It does not add more power to your bullets other than that.
I was reading through this thread and saw something i wanted to comment on, so forgive me dredging up something Nash said a while ago, but:
I have to disagree with this, as from my own experience i've found that FMJ does indeed increase the damage a weapon deals, at least in the realm of sniper rifles.
In playing this game, i found that a combination of FMJ + Stopping power coupled with the Barrett, achieves a one shot kill with any direct hit on an enemy, where as other rifles, such as the M21, still have a somewhat 50/50 shot of getting a one shot kill unless you get a headshot.
I've used this personally, as a way to achieve one shot kills and ease my sniping, it does not do well for headshots, as they are unnecessary so you will tend to not bother and try and still get kills but not as skilled a kills as you should get with a sniper rifle.
On the other end of the spectrum of misconceptions, the game itself says Silencers have no affect on the damage a weapon deals, only it's range, however i know that putting a silencer on weapon, like the barrett even with FMJ and stopping power, it's no longer able to achieve one shot kills, no matter the range. In the end i found in every attempt to use silencers with a sniper rifle, it's virtually impossible to get a one shot kill without a headshot, when i can do it without the silencer on the same rifle, which i find thoroughly annoying.
The game intends FMJ to be used towards bullet penetration kills, hence the extended mags challenge, but full metal jackets are flat out, meant to be more deadly rounds, and thus it makes sense that having FMJ on a weapon makes it more lethal than one without.
Not to bang on about campers but, i've noticed it gets really bad on Wasteland in the little underground bit. Had a match on there before and there were 3 in the underground bit, all crouching, one of them was sat on that table in the corner. I had no ammo left in my UMP45 so I whipped my USP pistol out with the tactical knife attachment, ran in there, pistoled 2 of them and knifed the other. The knife kill was epic as it was done on the person on the table, I ran and jumped and knifed him. It was so satisfying!
And what again exactly is this patch going to do? Hard to keep up with everything that's bugged and glitched in the game.
the Akimbo 1887s re-balancing, fix for Prestige hack, & fix for Public "private" Match
The Akimbo re-balancing, I understand. But what are the "Prestige Hack" and "Public/Private Match" issue?
As for the prestiget hacking Im not sure either, but if you look at the leader boards and see all those people with prestige 10 and look at there numbers its ridiculous...there hacked.
1887 have been fixed!!! i was playing hardcore and got shot from them a lot from afar and nothing! like a normal shotgun! something that would have killed me before
Lol....I thought the 1887 fix was giving them a sniper scope, but it looks like Infinity Ward actually got it right.
On a lighter note I went 18-0 in a match and it felt great.
