Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I can handle 3 Christmas movies. Always makes Christmas time all that more special :yess:

except it looks like the last one will be summer 2014

And I agree with you Josh, those places seem likely movie breaks, depending on what and how much app. material they include.
1. journey
2. smaug
3. battle o' 5 armies

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'm sad and happy hearing this new.

Sad coz we will wait almost 3 years to see and ending

Happy coz we will be seeing more of our beloved Middle-Earth:yess:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Guys any of you have the link of the 12 minute preview of the Hobbit?

Thanks

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That will be the key now how much more are they adding to make the splits work out. I think making it three films will make them all flow so much better.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I've not see it out there at all. They were pretty hardcore about making sure nobody was recording it.

Thanks Josh, I'm really excited bout the upcoming Hobbit movie and how i wish i dd go on the Con to see the footage.

Bud if you don't mind me asking. I know your a big LotR fan and i just want to ask do you also collect other line of statues besides LotR ones? Thanks

That makes at least 2 of us. :hi5:

Yeah, I'm gonna be getting statues and busts for the hobbit of course. I also get some of the marvel hit toys figures, SW SS figures (mostly clones), and some of the SS GI joe figures.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That's cool, just heard about the 3 movies. Now I know the Necromancer of Dol Guldur‎ (Sauron) will make an appearance. :rock

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Appearance as what? He does not take form after the ring is removed from his hand, except as the eye in Lord of the Rings.

Who knows what Jackson will have him appear as...flaming eye, shadow, spirit.,etc. But if the director is going to make 3 full movies from 1 book then the Necromancer will be a part of the movie. Of what I dont know.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, I expect the Necromancer will be some kind of shadow spirit type thing. It won't be a physical form mind you but it will be more than just a dark cloud.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Not really thrilled about the 3 movies, this just makes a longer wait for the conclusion. Would've rather seen these released as extended at some point down the road.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

What I understand is that The Hobbit book was really dumbed-down to appeal to children, but the scenes are really rich with content (ie, the Battle of Five Armies -- can take an hour on film easily just to finish). So, I'm not too ocncerned that there's not enough material that PJ can work with.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Found out something recently about The Hobbit. Tolkien actually almost had an updated version published that was more intone with lotr. He was talked out of it and the version that's out now is what has stood for 75 years. Some of this info I believe is in the annotated version of the hobbit.

I believe you're talking about this:

Got them both ages ago, a good read. Like the history of Middle-Earth series.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Now that it's 3 films I would love to see some of Gondolin's story in regards to Ocrist,Glamdring and Sting history too

I'm not sure if it's that or not. I'd have to find that thread on TORn's message board to be honest. I didn't recall remember that he almost rewrote the hobbit to match lotr more. I don't think he ever got very far with it and he was talked out of it. Just was a cool fact I thought I'd share.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'm staying in Wellington New Zealand for the year and went along to Peter Jackson's cinema called the Roxy, https://www.roxycinema.co.nz/
