Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So you've seen the movie and are 100% sure of it's content eh? I had no idea you traveled in such lofty hollywood circles Mr. Fisto.

Oh give it a rest fanboy. They made 3 movies out of 3 novels with LOTR and now a much shorter novel.....ONE novel is also 3 movies? Again, I have no problem with them making it 10 movies if they want, but to pretend It's anything less than keeping the gravy train rolling is foolish. I never said they can't or that It's wrong, but that's what they are doing.

Maybe read the thread. Then you would have understood that they aren't making 3 movies out of one book. They are taking a lot from the appendices (which leave a lot of room to expand upon). I do love how you use the term "fanboy" as if it lends more credibility to your opinion. :lol

Not sure why, for some one who claims that they "have no problem" with the 3 movies format, you sound so cynical and jaded about the whole. Not sure I care too much to know either. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

All I know is the more Tolkien stuff made the better. THAT'S IT! THE BOTTOM LINE! Stop beeeching everybody!:goodpost::hi5::yess::clap:exactly:

I didn't know they were doing all that. Which one will be the actual Hobbit? 1, 2, or 3? That's the one I want to see.

The story will be broken up over the course of all three movies.

All of it is the actual Hobbit...it's just got some fill in the blank scenes...thats it ...It's still all the Hobbit ...all 3 films...just long running time

Got it. I wish they just made 1 I guess. I don't want to wait to watch a bunch of other stuff. :lol The Hobbit was the shortest book of the 4 I read and they are over doing it to me.

I will watch them. They will probably be cool. Just seems excessive. I thought 2 was excessive. I'm not a fan of the two part movie endings. Thanks a lot Harry Potter!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So it's the Hobbit story with other stories woven in?

maybe yes and no......I would say no...it just fills in the blanks where Tolkien doesnt in the Hobbit novel...maybe another 25 -50 pages it wouldve added to the book if Tolkien did add the extra stuff...but again we do not know how much extra stuff PJ did add to the film...he might surprise us with some of the flashbacks, etc...Personally I hope he does

I'm just impatient and 7 or 8 hours is a long time to sit for essentually one movie. If they came out Dec, Jan, and then Feb, I would have less of a problem with it.

Do you have a problem waiting almost year between seasons of Walking Dead?

Let's just enjoy the moments...If we loved the LOTR trilogy and if these 3 are as good then we will have a good time...and that's whats important...LOL...sorry for bringing this up but can you imagine if this film sucks...........but for some reason or another I kinda doubt it though...LOL

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This is the last of my must see movies for the year. Don't care how long the movie is, I've waited forever to see this.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I can see both sides of the trilogy argument. As a fan of the films, it's hard for me to understand how they're going to manage making one book into three movies without screwing up the pacing and the like. As a fan of the novels (which I'm not), I would be excited to see anything they could give me on the screen.

I hope it's not just a cash grab. I want this to be a worthwhile story and well made instead of dragged out for the sake of being "epic" like the other films were. If they can add "filler" and other stuff from these appendices without screwing up the main story and feeling convoluted or slow, then I'm all for it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'm glad that Jackson is expanding on the book. Can you imagine how boring it would be if the whole Smaug battle lasted as long as the book? Or any of the battles for that matter.

I've said this before...Think about how short the Helm's Deep battle was in The Two Towers book and then think about how it was in the movie. Epic and one of my favorite parts of the whole trilogy! Jackson will definately bring it!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This will be amazing I have no doubts. Everything, I've seen and read on how things are or will be leaves me little doubt this will be as good a ride as The Lord of the Rings was. I think if you're a fan of the movies you'll love it and if you're like me and love both you're REALLY going to love it.

Exactly. Jackson proved to me that he could stretch one chapter (or even just a few paragraphs) of Tolkien into a huge chunk of movie. I trust him to make The Hobbit a fully fleshed out adventure. Instead of cutting out large portions of Tolkien as with LOTR, he has room to let the original book breathe, allowing every part of the story to come to the screen with no Tom Bombadil/Barrow-Downs/Scouring of the Shire cuts because of time constraints.
