Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Well, he's not doing it for free, that's for sure. I care more about how it works as a finished film than I care about his motivations.

Would I complain about a nine or ten part miniseries adaptation on HBO instead of a six part series? No, I'd love it. Same here. More opportunities for a faithful translation of the book with no material cut because of time constraints. The unabridged audiobook runs eleven hours, so we're still going to see a faster pace than the original story.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Maybe read the thread. Then you would have understood that they aren't making 3 movies out of one book. They are taking a lot from the appendices (which leave a lot of room to expand upon). I do love how you use the term "fanboy" as if it lends more credibility to your opinion. :lol

Not sure why, for some one who claims that they "have no problem" with the 3 movies format, you sound so cynical and jaded about the whole. Not sure I care too much to know either. :lol

:lol

Jaded? No dude, It's an opinion. I really don't care and I will watch 1 or 3 movies on the subject. I enjoy them, but I'm not foolish enough to think the studio didn't have some input on extending this cash cow as much as possible. If you believe this about the art only then go ahead. I'm also well aware they are taking stuff from the appendices and why? Because when they went with the 2 film goal they needed filler material to make 2 full length films and filmed enough for 3 films to bank more $.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So what....getting paid as well as doing something he loves...hey good for PJ

Apparently you do not pick up on sarcasm very easily. I was not being serious. Context is awesome (refers to Kit Fisto). :D

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah but he is doing it for money!!!!

:lol

WHAT???!!!! :horror

That greedy no good bastard!!

I was under the impression that it was Jackson who wanted the 3rd movie, not the studio.

At least he puts his all into it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Do you have a problem waiting almost year between seasons of Walking Dead?

No because that's a TV series. I think movie companies are getting far too greedy and adding "filler" to movies that really don't need it for the sake of profit.

But time will tell. I'm sure I will enjoy it. :rock

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

According to the latest article from Empire, it was actually Jackson, Walsh and Boyens who took the idea of the trilogy to Warner Bros and convinced them to let it happen. Boyens in particular seems to take personal offense at accusations of splitting the films for the sake of it.

Also Richard Armitage confirmed that there will be WWI style dogfights between the eagles and vampire bats, so yay.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I have no doubt the Hobbit will kick ass. I have 100% faith in Jackson, Walsh & Boyens!! Plus, I'm in favor of as much content as possible so I'm more than happy to pay to see three movies instead of two. As a matter of fact, I will state my intent to buy both the TE on blu-ray when released and then also buy the EE on blu-ray when release a few months later, even though they're greedy and only releasing EE's because they want more money. :lol

I really hope certain people stay away from this thread. Don't need to turn this into another Avengers and TDKR thread.

this movie is dumb.

TDKR ftw.

Avengers > TDKR :lecture

Can you honestly not just think that PJ and co just wanted to tell as much story as possible? That these 3 films will be fuelled more by passion of the story, for the teams own creativity, than money? Can you not believe that Jackson just wanted to tell the story of what Gandalf did when he left the company, and the dealings with the necromancer and Dol Guldur that happened at the same time as the events in The Hobbit?

Jackson, Boyens and Walsh went to WB with the idea of 3 movies, not the other way around, and i doubt they needed to do it to add more 0's to their bank accounts.

Why not just be positive and not so negative and suspicious?
