Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This really doesn't surprise me. There are critics that are going to hate it simply because of all the attention it's getting.

True. Main complaint i'm seeing is that's it's too long, and full of bloat.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

reading the reviews on this...calling it REAL slow (sounds like a borefest :()

The film is also captured in TV Soaps Live style action? What? sigh

I guess there is no hurry to see it

Nothing in Middle-earth would be a bore...at least for me anyway....I say the more ME the better...I dont care about what the freakin critics say...

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So basically if you are a middle earth fan and enjoy the extended editions, there should be no problem with this flick. I can see why mainstream audiences would find it a bit long though.

Only if you choose to see it in 48fps (which i am not) Reviews i find are mostly from professional bytches, and not to be given much credence. I don't know how anyone could watch this and think they will be bored IF THEY ARE A FAN.

Also a lot of them are thinking this is LOTR PT2. It is NOT!

" [M]ore than a bit like slogging through overly completeist volumes of fan fiction, and that is going to bore more casual moviegoers, and also some serious fans"

"Tolkien's brisk story of intrepid little hobbit Bilbo Baggins is drawn out and diluted by dispensable trimmings better left for DVD extras."

"As a lover of cinema, Jackson's film bored me rigid; as a lover of Tolkien, it broke my heart."

I know that everyone thinks people that review movies are F___ng ___holes but these reviews are making me worry a little bit. I am excited for the movie but they did have to extend the movie to become a trilogy.

The question in everyone's mind up to this point has always been how did they make the one book into 3 movies. Just makes me wonder how diluted it really was made.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

They filmed it with Sauron fighting Aragorn, but that was too much of a departure from Tolkien. Sauron can't maintain a physical form without the Ring.

There's debate on this, but I think he could, he was just weaker.

The scene was originally shot with Sauron because PJ thought it would make a good end to aragorns story, before realising it goes against Tolkiens story which is about Frodo, not Aragorn, so put a CG troll in last minute.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, people who have been studying film as an art form for years upon years should not be listened too.

Asinine.

that's the thing whenever someone mentions a review EVERYONE gets on their case about how film critics don't how sh__t about anything and how their opinions don't matter at all and yadda yadda yadda.

I know critics can be wrong sometimes they are wrong about a movie. But The Hobbit has more negative reviews than I thought it was going to get. I didn't think it was going to get so many different opinions.

Don't get all worried about it. One of the reviews i read a chick said she was willing to give it a 2nd go after watching the 48fps, but didn't know if she wanted to sit through another dwarf ballad. (I LOVE THAT DWARF ****, it's on my ipod) Everyone is different, are you interested is all you need to ask yourself.

after Prometheus and Dark Knight Rises I really don't know what to think.

Yeah they were both average movies. With TDKR getting amazing reviews. (so what does that tell ya?) I actually thought Avengers was a good movie, just not the 2nd coming of Christ good.

We'll see in a few days.

:peace

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'm not worried about the "it's long and boring" complaints in the slightest. People are always bashing the LotR trilogy for those same reasons, and I consider those films to be masterpieces.
