Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Exactly that. I'm not kidding. It's like watching a movie on those TV's.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Ok, I'm sold. I was in Best Buy once and they had Pirates of the Caribbean playing. It was crystal clear. Like it was filmed with an HD camera. But it looked like a home movie. Terrible. Another time I was at my sister's house and we were watching ST:TNG, and they had the TVs calibrated the same way. They loved how it looked. I almost puked.

I AM curious, but don't have time to be curious for 3 hours.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Just do this, see it in 2D, find a point that seems uninteresting, such as the first 45 minutes, grab some 3D glasses from the bin, walk in, and watch.

my eyes hurt after the film. HURT.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Isn't Leonard Maltin the one who thought the predator design was racist for having "dreadlocks"? That may have been someone else.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So I just looked, and it's not even playing in 48 fps in my city. :lol

Would like to know from anyone who's seen it in IMAX 24 fps 3D.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Michael Bay would never do such a thing. It took him many a poking from James Cameron to just do 3D.

It's not here either. I would have to drive over an hour away. No way.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Here's the simple version.

A traditional film is shot (either done using film, or a setting on a digital camera) at 24 frames per second. So every second of the film, is 24 still images shooting together into a artificial movement.

This is a movie.

Look at the way it looks. You can tell it's a film, right?

That is obviously not a film look. It's someone's home video.

The thing is, when you change the way the film is shot, it loses the magic of what a movie is. It's no longer a movie. It's something else. Jackson wanted to strive for realism, but that's a silly notion. It's a movie. It's not meant to be real.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

By the way, the movie studio logos looked HILARIOUS at 48fps. I couldn't stop laughing, I had to cover my mouth and almost choke, to not disturb the theater. :lol
