Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

If I met the goblin king I wouldn't be able to stop staring at his saggy throat thing. Would be like austin powers and the mole:rotfl

That was the worst part of the design IMO.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

What, other than the very minor issues DiFabio pointed out I quite enjoyed TDKR. :rotfl

Hey man i've got plenty of issues with The Hobbit but I rate it 8/10 :dunno

:lol

Those are the things that prevent it being a 9 or 9.5, which is the range i'd put the original three in.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

If people think Thorin was an ass hole now, just wait until the next film. :lol

Definitely looking forward to his complete arc. If people are thinking that the dwarves are a little incompetent and in over their head, that's because they are. That's where Bilbo Baggins comes in and shows his true strengths.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I actually didn't think he was much of a prick at all :dunno

I quite liked his character. Even when he doubted Bilbo I felt it was understandable.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah he is really bit of a prick in the book. Hell, they were able to show that in the old Hobbit cartoon. He really wasnt a likable character. But theyve done a good job of making him much more tolerable of a character in this film.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Thorin is probably my favorite character in this film so far. Bilbo, Gollum, Gandalf and Bofur not far behind (liked Balin too).

Thorin will change though, even despite the Bilbo hug (which was a great moment, I thought he was serious). Unless of course Peter Jackson changes it up.

The treasure, elves and Lake town will be key in this change. I see people accusing Thorin of being a prick, well, if it's like the book, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Thorin will be great to see evolve.

And also...
BOFUR! James Nesbitt is great. His main scene with Bilbo was fantastic, he has pretty much the opposite of Thorin's original attitude towards him.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I just saw that Benedict Cumberbatch plays the Necromancer. Phenomenal actor. I hope we see a lot more of him in the next two

And Smaug! Next year will be great for him, with The Desolation of Smaug and Into Darkness.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, Bofur is great. He was more involved than I thought he'd be. When Bilbo is about to leave I love that exchange they have about having a home. The acting was genuine.

He does get worse as the book goes on. Well, until......

I am too. I think in the end Thorin will be likeable by most but the middle part maybe not so much. I agree with you 110% on the Dwarves and they're maybe a bit worse in the book. That's why they're great though. Agreed on Bilbo.

Thorin was cool. I like the character despite him being a jerk. Martin Freeman as Bilbo was simply amazing. He totally captures the snobbish kind of character Bilbo is for the first good part of The Hobbit and already showing the proper change. Serkis as Gollum and McKellan as Gandalf were as great as before. I loved the look of Dwalin and like the character because of the look. Bofur with his little line was great as well. My new favorite though of the group is Balin. Loved the caring, wise, and strength of the character. I'm curious to see if they show the relationship between him and Bilbo develop.

I'm curious as to how they're going to use him for that. Now, he's voicing Smaug which I expect is going to be so freaking cool.

Na it made him look all the more disgusting and diseased I thought.

It does that. Its just a little bit much for me.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, all those orcs and uruks were great, not just Lurtz.

This is literally better than any creature I've seen so far in the Hobbit,

One of my favorite scenes ever. :rock

My 3 favorite Dwarfs are

1. Killi
2. Thorin
3. Bofur

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

My 3 favorite are...

Thorin and....uh....er....uuhhhhh...the guy with the beard?

I have no idea what any of their names were. :lol

I liked the guy with the pointy hat.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'm going to see it this week, for those who have seen it, does it make sense for Jackson to split it into two parts? :dunno

Your honest thoughts. Josh I'm interested in your opinion of it being split into parts.

Two parts? I thought they are making 3 films?
