Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Yeah, I'd give them a call. Depending on how old your computer is and your Internet connection that may be the issue. However if your others play just fine it could be a bad download.

My connection is certainly slow (took eight hours to download "The Hobbit"), but it is not required for watching the movie. I have it downloaded onto my computer. But it plays through Vudu's software and is very choppy.

I have a hard time blaming my hardware...solely...because "The Avengers" plays perfectly through Windows Media Player.

Also, when I watch movies through direct TV's website on the same connections...the movies stream just fine.

So I want to find out if this is an issue specific to "The Hobbit" due to the way it was filmed, or if this is a Vudu issue. If Vudu has hardware too advanced for system, I will have to drop their service. I won't be upgrading my computer for another year or so.

Got ya. Post what they say the deal is. I'm curious.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

You ate my lunch so thoroughly with the Avengers lenticular card, that I was going to ask you if you wanted the Gandalf lenticular card that I got from Wal-Mart.

You speakuth in forked tongue, Kemosabe.

I have the Gandalf Card already. Thanks anyway. :1-1:

I think I can wait until the extended version. That's probably what I'm going to do.

Double dip or bust. :lecture :exactly:

Besides, two of the three previous EE's (FOTR and TTT) were inferior to the theatrical editions anyway.

I agree with the first part.

Totally dead wrong on the second. :lecture

Its all mindless entertainment to Josh so of course more is better. Those of us who value pacing and content have different opinions. :D

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I've seen the EE so much that I have forgotten what the Theatricals are like, especially with FOTR which seems to be the one that most talk about when it comes to pacing comparison.

Same here. I honestly don't recall the last time I saw the TE. For me as a hardcore fan of the world you get all the things pacing, content, etc of the TE with more character development and just more time spent in Middle-earth.

The TE are kind of the readers digest version while the EE are the novels. Both are exceptional though.

I doubled dipped with each LOTR film (actually triple dipped if you count the blu rays I bought later on), not doing it again for The Hobbit.

Besides, I can always fast forward past them if they suck and the Extended Editions always have the better special features.

I love both, though I prefer the EEs.

You know what....I never thought of that. LOL.

I'm going to buy the EE. The first EE of this entire series I will buy, aside from Part 2 and 3.

And i'll skip the hell out of any LOTR reference heavy scenes, just to watch great special features on PJ trying to justify his silly decisions. It'll be interesting.

And how they made other things too. That
s always fun.

Why buy it at all if you don't care enough for it that you have to fast forward through it. Why not just wait for the special features to be uploaded on youtube. They always are.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Because I hate watching things on the computer. I just want to fast forward to the useless stuff....anything that has to do with Rings.

I came for The Hobbit. And only The Hobbit.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Just saw this, I thought they would show how Gollum became the way he is. Wasn't he a normal looking dude in the flashbacks in LOTR?

Also Bilbo seems fine for wearing the ring for so long but Frodo goes a little bat**** looking afterwards?

Are the sequels going to mention the origin of the ring?
