Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Cool!

But, Richard Armitage seems a bit too slim for Thorin...

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I am so glad that Martin Freeman is going to be Bilbo. He was truly my first choice and in the midst of all the horrible news and delays and setbacks, getting a greenlight with him in the lead really brightens my day.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Is Ian McKellan coming back as Gandalf for sure?

I think Andy Serkis is coming back as Gollum right?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Gotta say from the outside looking in right now the casting seems perfect. These guys should be able to come together and do this. Nobody is "that" big named much like with LOTR.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Man he really got into that interview. You can really tell how much passion Pete has for his films especially this one he wants to bring to the table. Stay the ____ out of his way and keep it in NZ.:lecture

Yeah he has for sure but he is looking aged and tired and they haven't even started filming yet.

Apparently it doesn't mean much to the country or people given they're the ones who helped stir up this mess. I say good riddance. Make it elsewhere and let them whine about the lost revenue the film being there would produce. It's pretty pathetic to attack the production for this BS and then cry about it when they close up shop and move.

I just want to see the films made. I don't care where they're filmed. The production needs a clean slate anyway and I have faith the films'll fit in perfectly with LOTR if they're shot in NZ, Scotland, Italy or a studio.

A small minority really that probably have a similar take on things as yourself by the sounds of it. Anyone knows that whilst it could be filmed anywhere there is no place more suited than NZ.

Anyway glad to hear the cast are being announced so lets look forward to everything starting to happen.:yess:

Hey Red i'm also glad to see you're more active again on here! You've been missed mate :wave

I don't think it'll sink in, that the Hobbit is being filmed, until we catch a glimpse of Ian McKellen in full Gandalf mode:yess:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Very exciting news to wake upto!!

I was never convinced with Freeman as Bilbo, but after seeing him in a few more things recently i trust in PJ's decision.
Thrilled that Armitage is in it but i didn't see him as Thorin, i always imagined him as being a bit more 'robust'. I saw Armitage as more of a Bard, but i know PJ looks for actors for his main roles who'll become like family as well as being a fantastic actor, so i think it's a great choice.
Good to see Being Human, Eastenders and Red Dwarf actors in there too!!
