Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I can't believe all of this has transpired withing this week, we have been waiting for years for this to happen and within this one week my head is about to explode. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This is awesome news after so long waiting to see any sign of movement on this project.

"The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

ANd great to hear that there has been a voice cast! I don't want a mute Smaug. :)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

A small minority really that probably have a similar take on things as yourself by the sounds of it. Anyone knows that whilst it could be filmed anywhere there is no place more suited than NZ.

Anyway glad to hear the cast are being announced so lets look forward to everything starting to happen.:yess:

That's an opinion. And while I agree to some extent, if NZ is being tittybaby over the production, the movie will be just as good shot elsewhere. It's naive to think otherwise. Personally, I don't believe in interrupting the lives of others just because the Joneses have it better than I do. That mentality pisses off more people than it does good. In this case it's exceptionally selfish because a few douchebags are risking millions of dollars for New Zealand as a whole, to pamper their own, self-obsessed egos. And mark my words, these same entitlement douches will find a way to blame WB for not shooting in NZ, if production is, in fact, taken elsewhere. "It's not our fault. We just wanted what's right for us."

Yup, pretty much. I'm like you that kind of approach just annoys the ____ out of me.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

...I agree, however LOTR shows Legolas being impervious to the effects of alcohol, but the dwarves are able to escape in the Hobbit because an elf gets tanked...

IIRC, I think the wine the butler and guard were drinking was extra potent. :slap :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Maybe, but Legolas had an awful lot in TTT.

I predict they engineer a different scenario for how the Dwarves get out the barrel drop.

LOTR,The Hobbit,Tolkien, and NZ go hand in hand, peanut butter and jelly.

I can't think of any other movie that the location is as important as this one. This isn't SW where you just throw a bunch of actors in front of a green screen in California.

You're probably right. I can't see a super long sequence where Bilbo spends a few invisible weeks in Mirkwood and saves the Dwarves by stuffing them in barrels.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This is really, really shaping up nicely. Hopefully they sort out the location details soon so they can get filming. Jackson directing these is really a dream come true. It will be nice to have the same style throughout the LOTR and the Hobbit.

Totally agree although when you say NZ its just a few people including a few of our local idiots over here. So we're mostly in agreeance except on the one point that i in the spirit of what LOTR means to me and most fans i want it filmed in Middle earth whilst you dont really care......which is fair enough as thats your entitled opinion.

Wrong. I do care, but if given the choice of shooting it elsewhere vs. no Hobbit at all, I'll take shooting it elsewhere any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Really?? well glad to hear it TNM.:wink1: That argument doesn't stand up cause not sure if you've noticed but its happening and of course anyone would take that option, theres no suprises there.

Anyway i'm just looking forward to the film no matter where its filmed but am still hoping NZ gets the nod cause in my opinion they still deserve it.

Cheers mate i'll just get off my high horse now as its looks like we are damn agreeable again.:wave

Makes 2 of us.

Let me make it clear I want it to be shot in NZ. However, if there is a chance it doesn't get made cause a few greedy bastards wanna be that way then move it. Then those idiots can suffer the consequences if they screw it up.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Then those idiots can suffer the consequences if they screw it up.

But thats the whole point of this debate Josh as it wont be those idiots that end up suffering its way bigger than that. It will cost their economy 1.5 billion and for a small country like NZ thats a considerable amount as well as the knock on effect the damage will do to the country in terms of any future film development.

Anyway thats all i'm going to say on the matter as this is going to be an enjoyable time and in the end we all want the same thing and that is............for PJ to knock it out of the park.:yess:
