Predators Part II will be better. They maybe played it too safe with Predators. Now the scenario has been set up they don't have to spend an hour setting up the films premise. All they have to worry about is character development and hopefully they can fit in more Predator action around that.
And I'm pretty sure I've read that if it happens, RR will be directing.

you guys are confusing seperate movies with trilogies. predator movies is not a trilogy. LOTR, Star Wars and Terminator are trilogies. they take place back to back in one big story. so they should have the same theme music. predator movies are different. P1 and P2 had different music. which was a good thing, there is no need for the same music. because it's not all on story. they are seperate movies, seperate story lines and seperate dates in time.

l just watched Predators and everytime l heard the P1 music it pissed me off, because l couldn't then get into what was happening. l have seen P1 so many times l know the exact scene that is happening based on the music. so l am watching Predators and l hear that music and l dont see what is happening in Predators anymore. l have flashbacks of the scenes from P1 that was happening at the time that muxic was playing, so it kind of blinds me to what is going on in the scene in Predator. l can't watch Predators because l end up seeing P1 in my head. maybe it's just me that happens too, but haven't experienced that watching a film before.

anyway l also didn't like any of the characters. they were all killers and bad people so why should l care for them. unlike P1 and 2, they had very likeable characters. the convict in Predators, when he says if he gets back home he will do so much coke and rape so many _____es. dont tell me l am supposed to hope he lives, l am hoping a pred tears his spine out, same with the rest of the cast for the most part. they just aren't likeabl because they are bad people. that's why they are on that planet. so l just don't really care for whats going on.

I completely disagree but that's what these boards are for. I love the Predator theme and in my opinion it's not a true Predator movie without that music. Also, Terminator is no longer a trilogy and part 3 wasn't even allowed to use the music until the end credits. Also, I don't think we were really supposed to root for the human characters in Predators. They gave us people who were either good, bad, or in that grey area. The badder the person the worse the death (The rapist convict, Topher Grace). The Preds were the stars of this movie. Hell, I was really rooting for Classic the entire time and was bummed that he got owned the way he did. The purpose of that movie was to show the Predator's hunting the best of the best and the worst of the worst. I think they handled that perfectly. I hope that Ridley Scott can return the Alien series to greatness as I believe Rodriquez did with the Predator franchise.

A 1:1 Alien Queen, which was in all respects a giant puppet, that was a collaboration in design by H. R. Giger and Stan Winston vs a 1:1 dinosaur design seen 1,000 times before that was a giant robot. Alien Queen effects win hands down, IMO. But, considering CGI was the easier route, but he chose to go with traditional effects in lieu of that, definitely up to par with the Queen.

Except the dinosaurs seen before jurassic park were always portrayed as upright, tail-dragging dumb lizards, so in a way, the new, fast, smart dinosaurs of jurassic park were something never seen before.

And how does robot < puppet to you? :dunno

Yeah, they were portrayed that way in '50s stop-motion pictures, but museums had been making life-size 3D renderings of dinosaurs for years before JP, so the material was there to go off of. SW only had 2D artist renderings about a fictitious creature that had never been done before, so he had to create the Queen from scratch, and in-turn created one of the most memorable movie monsters in history.

And people get too wrapped up in all the problems SWS went through with the T-rex mechanics during the filming of that movie. The problems themselves made it the feat it turned out to be more than the scale of it, especially considering CG was the biggest craze at the time.

Exclusive: John Davis Talks About the PREDATOR Franchise, Potential Sequels, Reveals What Stopped Arnold from Doing PREDATOR 2

https://collider.com/john-davis-interview-predator-predators-sequel/94895/

Here’s the part of my conversation with Davis about the Predator franchise. Look for more with Davis tomorrow or Wednesday.

Collider: You started with Predator and I really dug the reboot you did with Robert Rodriguez. How successful was that for the studio in terms of maybe making another one?

John Davis: You know, those Predator movies…Tom Rothman said this to me, “Man, they all seem to make money.” I get a big check every year on my net points off of the original Predator. You know how hard it is to get net points on a studio movie, right? It was hugely profitable. It far exceeded its revenue on DVD than in theaters by three or four times.

You’re talking about the original, right?

Davis: Yes. I talked to Arnold about rebooting Predator and doing something in terms of that. I think in terms of right now, it needs to rest for a couple of years. I can’t see why if we can’t be clever we can’t reinvent it again.

I actually really dug it. I thought Rodriguez did a great job with it.

Davis: Yeah. It was really fun.

It was really good. That’s why as a fan I’d love to see another one.

Davis: Yeah. He changed the setting. He put it on another planet. You have to keep changing the setting. You have to find a clever way to do it. If we were going to do it with Arnold; it was like, “Does it make sense to go back and to put him with a young team?” So maybe it’s 20 years later, you have retired, and you are the one person who has survived one of these encounters. Is that a reboot in the fact that you are in it with a group of young guys? Is that a reboot? You just have to figure out a way to reboot it. Rodriguez rebooted it. It’s all in the planet. The sequel to the first one rebooted it. We should’ve had Arnold in the movie. The deal broke down over $250,000, which is a shame. But it was moved from the jungle to the city. You have to create a freshness about it. When we did Alien vs. Predator we kind of rebooted it because we put the two pieces together. You just have to give it enough time to come up with a new freshness. It is what they did so brilliantly with Fast Five.

Goose thanks for the interview! :hi5: I hope some new project will start in the Predator world! I don't wanna wait for a couple years :monkey2

I'm all for rigorous discussion, but this is dead in the water.
Everything that Lar'ja Thwei loves about AVP/Predators is exactly what fear 666 xX hates about it. There is no common ground for a reasonable debate, just an argument.

What else should we talk about? :)
