Plus it will help Conan get made.

He's not that old. He'll live.

However, his time as a legitimate action hero is over. If he was a more talented actor, he could do those old man stories like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood did when they got old.

I think Stallone will be able to make that transition more successfully than Arnie because he's a better actor.

I think the best roles for Arnold these days would be like what Charlton Heston did in True Lies. His time as an action hero has come to an end.

However, I love the original Conan the Barbarian film, so if he would reprise his role as King Conan, I would undoubtedly see it.

While Stallone has pulled off a better movie career than Arnold during their senior years I will always choose Arnold's list of movies over Stallone's during their prime years and that's coming from a person who loves Rocky/Rambo.

Conan/Terminator 1/T2/Predator/Commando/True Lies are all perfect.

Rocky 1 and Rambo 1 are Stallone's only 2 perfect movies, the sequels are entertaining but not perfect.

7 Rocky films

4 Rambo films

3 Expendable films

I'm not a fan of the EX films or Rocky 5 and Rambo 3.

Lock Up

Still, Rambo is my film favorite action hero, but Arnie's Filmography is more diversed, imo. And the quality of some of Arnie's films are a bit better than the non Rocky/Rambo films that Stallone made.

As far as pop culture relevance and influence, I think Stallone and Arnold are even.

I don't think there is anyone else on their level today.

While I respect the source material the movie being the best barbarian movie ever made makes me easily forgive it for not being the real CTB.

Yep, it definitely reimagines the character but in doing so Millius crafted the greatest sword and sorcery film ever made.

Yup and it remained that until LOTR came and dethroned it.

I do also enjoy that trashy Sword and the Sorcerer movie from the 80's though.

Now if we could only get a Planet Dutch movie.

I tend to keep "sword and sorcery" movies like Conan, Beastmaster, Red Sonja, Ator the Fighting Eagle and all those separate from straight fantasy flicks like The Dark Crystal, Legend, Willow, LOTR and so on but yeah LOTR definitely surpassed CTB by a wide margin.
