The scene is definitely a pivotal point in the movie, :goodpost: crows. And the fact that it's placed early on in the movie makes me think that the "false safety" setup may be intentional, as it's not the only time false optimism is used in the movie.

You guys may enjoy the full analysis by this guy.

Many of the points you've already mentioned, as expected from fellow KINOisseurs, but he brings up a few interpretations of things I haven't thought of, he sells the full 2hr analysis for $8 bucks, if you have the pesos to spare and you want to hear someone who studied film, talking about Predator for 2 hrs, I'd recommend it, he brings up good points.

Yeah, the two 15 minute videos he has are part of it.

It's not perfect IMO, and I don't agree with everything he says, but it's nice that someone goes deep.

One of the things he mentioned that I disagree with, and that it's mentioned in various other sci-fi movies, is that the sci-fi framing of the movie is not firm, as a technologically advanced creature would have to come from a civilized race, as no technological advancement comes from savagery.

That is simply not true, as seen by man, man hasn't grown out of its capacity for savagery, nor we will ever, not without evolving into a different species.

There's this concept that intelligence and savagery are somehow mutually exclusive, when it's in fact the opposite, it's conflict and warfare what drives technological advancement.

The Cold War can attest to that. I wouldn't be talking to you right now without the advent of the computer tech that came out of it.

So little boy plays with toy alien ship, is actually controlling real alien ship and causes predators to be released into the wild?

Hope that's not true...

I'm wondering if it was just a quick scene cut that somehow the YouTuber misunderstood.

*Update* Yeah, it's true...another YouTuber described the item more clearly as a "Predator artifact" rather than a "toy ship with a toy alien".

Man that is sounds hilarious! :rotfl I am a huge Predator fan and it is so sad to see in Hollywood nobody rests until they **** every classic up! Keep up the good work.

this is no different than the kid in iron man 3

but because this is not marvel or has everyones favorite superhero, then it gets trashed

if it had the marvel logo, then it would be praised

Yeah sure cause Iron Man 3 is an epic movie and was praised by everyone. :rotfl

There is your new, bigger and better predator:

The real problem with this movie, as I see it, is the new concept that the Predators hunt humans for their DNA so they can use it to genetically enhance themselves. This sort of throws away their trophy collecting and honor motivations. If it's not broken don't try to fix it. It just seems like a cheap way to introduce something new. I don't think the fandom will be ok with it. Only now the Predators are genetically enhanced?
