Re: Predator Reboot...

What's the definition of a hybrid? 50/50? Because they weren't 50/50. But I agree, I've always explained the color and fleshiness of the Resurrection aliens as being due to their human-contaminated DNA, whether that was intended or not. In general though they don't look anymore human, actually they look less human and more generic monster than Giger's original, so I'd say the point of the AvP aliens' design being "retarded" because they had the base design of the AR aliens, which are supposed to look more human, but actually don't, is moot.
You make a good point, after all the AR xenos are handmade by humans, so you could attribute their ****** look to them, and they do look ******, which is why I think it's a good look for that movie, in any case, is just another point why that design doesn't work in AvP.

I wonder why they didn't use the Aliens look in the 1st AvP.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Naah, actually it was fine, the action has some good moments, I can also admit that.

AvPR has tons of gore and it's even worse than the 1st one.

I just wanted a better script and better characters, that's all, Predators may be in the same bag as AVP, but its characters are far better and far more memorable than the ones in AVP movies.

Predators characters are cold and grim; killers, rapists... We were just waiting for them all to get killed off. Even then the death scenes weren't that great, Berserker tearing out Stans' spine being the exception. The whole movie lacked any sense of fun or well placed humour (example being p*$$y jokes and general banter between the group in Predator etc).

Re: Predator Reboot...

For sure! Books and comix too. :hi5:
Well, some comics can survive, have you read Tarzan vs Predator? That one was pretty good. Or maybe I remember it better than it was.

They don't have to be likable to be good characters, besides, of course they're not in the same league as the 1st two Predator or Alien movies, as I've said, they're in the same bag as the AvP movies, BUT they're better, and the death scenes were also better than the AvP ones.

The Russian guy and the grenades? The yakuza? Hell, they can even be considered good.

I hate crossovers. Freakin' HATE them! :lol

Oldschool Machiko stuff is ok (1986 - 1996).
I loathe the tribeclanhonor crap, but it works with her character.

The Russian guy and the grenades?
BTW, I was really surprised to see the actual Russian actor.
You'd expect them to go full 80s and hire some European dude with a terrible accent. :lol

Re: Predator Reboot...

predators movie aka predaturds. that movie was a bag of doggie pewp.
they had to market those as super preds...like really!? a bunch of intergalactic kidnapper gardeners.
design wise they suck donkey balls.
story wise, its like a copy of a copy of a reboot.
they wasted fatburn's character. they had the holocaust survivor pianist on the lead.
yakuza vs birdpred was lousy and lazy...if they pinned him with billy i bet billy would survive.

All of it 3 times better than any of the AvPs.

Yeah I hate them too but this one was written by Walter Simonson, and the art was great too. It's not just edgy 90's Predator stuff.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Is that real? If so then the RR Predators reference is already a sign this movie is in the wrong hands. Sigh!

That did cross my mind with the damaged Biomask... but now examining it again, he doesn't have the bone trophies across his chest either. I assume this was a production photo from Rodriguez's film.

It's an official teaser, but it's a bit puzzling why they'd use something that wasn't in the film... which makes me think they're "borrowing" the damaged predator mask look.

:dunno

Avpgalaxy are still waiting on a response as to whether it's an official announcement for the new movie. All signs point to yes but Fox did the same hype announcement back when they released the 3D blu-ray.

Hopefully it's just a lazy photoshop job by a Fox staff member who has no idea about the franchise to announce the title. They could have just used a pic from the original movie and added the title 'The Predator' to it. It needs to be as far away from Predators as possible.

And Rodriquez. The only glimmer of hope for this project is Black is heavily involved... but this film doesn't even need to be made anyway.

True, it doesn't. It's hard to not get hyped when it's a property you like but I really don't want to get my hopes up. I just hope it's an original and solid movie that is true to the Predator we saw in the original.

We always have the original to watch. I guess it would make sense to try and reboot the series since it's been off the rails since P2. I like P2, but it's a good bad movie. Predators was the straw that broke the camel's back.

If they do have a classic look for Predator, at least we can get a high end HT of it.

Getting the design right isn't the only problem. Even if the concept is good it all depends on the suit actor, the suit quality and finally trying the get the mandibles to open right, and so on...

I just hope they stick with practical effects mostly.

Shame Kevin Peter Hall isn't around to reprise the role.
