Re: Predator Reboot...

At this point I'd prefer Dutch to be "untainted." There was a time when I thought his return would be cool but I don't want to see an aging and overly comedic shadow of what he used to be.

Come on, he still got it....and I don't mean the red shirt :cuss

By the way, there are so many pics of Arnold wearing a red shirt with a cigar...must be his favorite color

As Khev said, chances are if Dutch comes back it'd be too quippy and Dutch was actually one of Arnie's more serious performances back then - with exception of maybe 'knock knock' and 'stick around'. I'd kinda like to see him again but they could end up ruining it by having Arnie act like they think Arnie fans want him to act.

The push for big men for me has nothing to do with realistic strength

If it wasn't Shane Black, I would say, keep the past in the past. But. . .it is Shane Black. And he's the man. So,

With Black wanting an ensemble cast, by putting Arnie back in there it would ruin what he is trying to achieve.

There's still a chance someone like Hardy might sign on. Get Urban involved too! :rock

If Arnold was involved, chances are he would be there to advise the team going in to get the Predator (or Predators? I haven't followed this film very closely). Maybe he even gets tracked down just so folks can pick his brain. I can't see them putting him on the military squad. That would be too much.

Dutch probably never recovered from what happened to him and his team. You could see it in his eyes...

which is why if he returns, I doubt he'll be a caricature saying one liners like in the Expendables. Terminator is different, because T2 pretty much started the silly T800 jokes, so people expect that, but Dutch is a different character.

Multiple Preds seems likely - they have cast two guys as Preds so far.

The ensemble cast seems to fit with the multiple location rumours. Maybe BDT's character is in charge a team trying to track Preds. I guess Dutch could fit in somewhere in a small role.

I wondered if BDT would be more in line with Dillon and Keyes from P1 and P2 respectively, the sneaky CIA guy who you never know if he had an alternative motive until the final reel. It would make sense with a more usual hero type leading the team, then you have Arnie doing his usual Expendables number and fly in at the end to save the heroes.

This is how I see Black utilizing Arnie, that is, if he's going to be in the script.

I prefer they leave him out all together. I don't want anyone ruining Dutch. The image I have of him is that he's at legendary status. That's the way the movie ended and that's how they should leave it. I don't want that image replaced with a washed up, wrinkled Dutch.

Maybe hes living hiding in the artic ( predators love heat) so he would probably be living in the snow. A small fishing village,
He keeps to himself and drinks himself silly every night. Has a low key job and lives in a bunker. The bunker is full of guns and explosives. Theres only a bed and a desk with a computer. He keeps checking world news for signs of the predator coming back....
Then the new team pays him a visit
