The lack of A-list actors must be concerning for Fox. They went after Del Toro because they knew he'd be right in the spotlight once Episode VIII is released.

Saying that I'd rather they have a solid story and characters first. Hopefully this isn't the reason the big guys said no although jumping into this franchise is risky too.

Putting A-list actors in AVP and AVPR wouldn't have made them better movies. A better story and characters with the right actors would have.

Del Toro would have brought the acting chops but he isn't a A-lister or top draw. Clearly Arnold was. And Glover was big in the 80's with Lethal Weapons, Color Purple and various westerns.

This flick needs a heavy.

one problem of people dropping or declining a movie is that the script is no good.

it has happened before, thats why movies like AVPR have unknowns sometimes. there have been times when actors keep passing on roles that ended up being really bad

Actually, FIRE & STONE (2015) is the first canon comic for the series. It takes place in 2219 (40 years after ALIENS '86) and features the Engineers, the Yautja, the Marines & the Xenomorphs.

A sequel called LIFE AND DEATH is ongoing at the moment and is also canon.

I read the first issue of F&S, the Predator one, with really great expectations and I thought it was very stupid as often comics are, maybe I was in a bad mood or something, I'll give it another go.
