Just remember what ol' Ski does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Ski just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

:lol CLASSIC!

Ski - thanks for the recipe! I'm hoping to try that out at some point this week. :duff

Question, though...you're married, right? If so, do you both eat the same thing at mealtime, or does she make something entirely different?
Just trying to figure out if I go higher proteins how I'll handle things with the wife.

Thanks for any advice you can provide!
If you would rather PM me, that's fine, too.

Yep, I'm married, she mainly just fixes her own stuff, she eats way different than I do anyways. She still eats healthy it's just not as strict, more veggies and less protein.

Ok, thanks Ski. :duff
After seeing the last episode of extreme makeover weightloss edition I got a little concerned. :lol

What happened? :lol

The guy needed to start eating healthy to lose weight (he was 400 pounds).
His fiancee, who was also a little big, agreed to help him out AND join in on the program.

They showed a couple of videos of them working out and eating, but one in particular stood out...around month 4 or 5 (I don't remember really) at the Christmas party, she started poking fun at him because he was eating healthy!!!
Long story short, they ended up splitting up and he got engaged to someone else. :lol

I was like, oh crap...I hope my wife is on board with this. :panic:
She's started working out as well, but I'm taking the diet stuff a little slower so she's not in complete shock. :lol

Yea, that is a tough one... especially whenever it's a lifestyle change because both of you either have been together for a while and are used to eating, doing similar events, etc.. with each other as well.

With a couple deal, you guys really have to come together on the decision to make a change and there's always going to be one more gungho than the other, if not that's great and amazing, all the easier and better!!!

You all ready know what to do and have felt out the situation, I think you're doing the right thing by taking it slow and doing the baby steps. Everyone doesn't like having the world turned upside down that's for sure. :lol

Perhaps the ex fiancé was a complete biotch and he figured that he may as well lose some more unsightly fat by getting rid of her??

We both used to be in decent shape, but let ourselves go after the loss of our child (talk about world upside down :(). We started eating more junk food, ordering out more, drinking sugary drinks, etc, etc. Not good, and it just made us feel even worse.

When I stopped buying pop about a month or two ago, my wife was like "you're serious about this, aren't you?". :lol
Getting back on the horse has been tough at times, but with each passing day you can see the results, and it feels great to turn things back around (both physically and mentally).

Now we just need to take our healthy eating up a notch and gear it towards our goals. It feels like a much bigger step than what it probably is, but I don't want to derail the train. :lol

Not at all a small feat, in fact one of strongest subjects would be on how to keep focus and stay motivated. Our mind is our weakness in this battle IMO but it can also be your strength!

:exactly:

Sugar is my mind/motivation killer, but I'm slowly defeating it.

I'm in the same boat gibby. Sugar and beer are my weakness, BUT I'm sticking to my goal. No crappy eating until I get rid of all the fat I have left that bothers me. I switched up my diet and feel this should be easy breezy. I'll report back in after the weekend to see if I survived.

I hope you're right! Easy breezy would be nice!

Good luck bro! :duff

I've done it before so I'm going to do it again. As Ski said, it's all mental. At first it's hard, but after a couple weeks of turning down everything you love it gets easier. Especially once you start to see the results.

This morning, DEADS!!! Finish strong or go home crying...
