Just seems like some people get no enjoyment out of the show except waiting for main character deaths. To me, that's a silly reason to watch a show. I only watch a few programs. There are some I've started watching and at first enjoyed, but later I didn't care whether I watched it or not so I stopped. I have always enjoyed this show since the beginning. I look forward to it. I miss it over the summer. I'm invested in the characters. I give a ****. I don't wish death on any of them simply because I'm bored and need a short lived thrill. If one dies, then they do, but I don't sit week after week hoping for it.

I do think the show has gotten a little formulaic ever since the Governor. It’s just been Rick’s group fighting one evil group after the other. I like that they have found a couple of “nice” groups along the way. But I don’t know what else they could do to break the formula. However, I would like to see an evil group against another evil group. It would be great to have seen how the Governor would have fought off the Saviors, or how the Wolves would have tried to take over Terminus. And maybe Rick’s group could just get caught in the middle of it all!

There's no other way the show can go in terms of formula. It is just a case of surviving, make friends/deals or kill people to get by in life and kill the occasional walker every now and then. All they can do now is introduce new groups and characters doing the same thing.

Someone/multiple characters have to be killed off next week though. Rick's group has killed far too many Saviors for there not to be consequences.

Although...

We won't find out who Negan kills until season 7 if the cliffhanger leak is true...

No names in that spoiler by the way.

Death enhances stories and can give you that "short lived thrill."

As DiFabio said, Walking Dead used to pride itself on any character can die at any moment. Now, deaths of the main group are basically non-existent. When they do happen, it is from some dumb **** like Tyresse getting bitten from behind by a single walker. Guy goes down like a champ in the comics, but not in the show.

None of he characters are interesting any more. What has Daryl done? What is he going through as a character? .

This really sums it up perfectly. Daryl has just hit a wall. Up to and after Merle's death he had a story. What he was going through, coming to terms with being alone, finding family in Rick. But now he's just there. He just goes on runs and is grumpy Daryl. There isn't a romance, he isn't running anything important. He's just there. And that's just not interesting.

Rick is still interesting because he has the constant struggle of taking care of someone. Of leading a community. Of trying to figure out what groups he can trust and what he can't. He has a relationship that's going somewhere. That's something to watch.

And the show is in fact very much like Game of Thrones. They're characters struggling to survive in a harsh and brutal world. But the characters in Walking Dead aren't as well balanced. Daryl doesn't have to die but his death could go a long way to making Negan a very hated and interesting villain. Someone you want to tune in each week to see him get what's coming to him. But if that doesn't happen they need to do something interesting with Daryl like putting him in charge of something. Even Abraham has found purpose in working on the wall, he has a relationship and struggles with how to work that out. Glenn can still have an interesting arc with becoming a father like Rick. Which leaves Daryl as the choice for losing someone big and lending weight to the idea that no one is safe from this new threat. At the moment, he's dead weight. And with so many new characters coming in with a lot of potential, I don't care if he dies.

I still watch the show but now I'm starting to feel like every season is just filler until however many years from now when the last season finally happens and the show will be allowed to get interesting again. Seems like we've had nothing but Governors since Season 3 now.

I thought Daryl was still interesting up until Beth bought it. Now, yeah he's just a token heart throb dude that goes through the motions week in and week out.

Honestly season 6 has been a great season. I enjoyed a bit of season 5 and a little of 4 but honestly season 1,2,3 and 6 are the best. The Walking Dead has been going down the drain a little but I still love it. I've been watching since the beginning. I have to keep going until the end and I just started to read the comics and I enjoy both honestly because both are so different. I'm glad the show went a different direction than the comic so you don't know what's going to happen. But I also agree I wish Shane was still alive he was one of my favorites. Season 2 has been my most rewatched season out of all of them.

The deaths have just lost the emotional impact for me...the last one that got to me was Lizzie and that's because she was a kid. Before that it was Hershel, but we're talking season 4 here. IMO, and remember, it's just an opinion, the show is 100x better when you really feel that nobody outside if Rick is safe. If AMC gets complacent the show gets soft and loses the edge that makes it so great. I am kind of with WWEJedi here...if they puss out and have Negan kill some secondary character it is going to frustrate the **** out of me.
