Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC
Or, what Nam said.
Or, what Nam said.
I don't know...
I don't see the point in making the series blow by as a matter of days when this is going to obviously be a long term struggle.
The comic is identical in that nature. Though it's been out for several years, the "story time" does not equal the time the book's been in print. I think the biggest misconception is that this isn't a story about zombies. It's a story about humans and how they deal with and adapt to living in a period where their normal way of life has been ruined forever and these zombies exist as a force of nature.
So, 'Occupy Hershel's farm' is a movement you can get behind?
People keep bringing this up, but I think most folks do get the concept that the zombies are just the catalyst for the human drama. I don't think it's necessary to keep throwing that out out everytime someone thinks the plot is dragging a bit.

Exactly and why make the leap to saying human struggles are all confined to the space of 2 week long drama. Real human struggle is a long drawn out process.
I'm not complaining about lack of zombie killing! I'm complaining about being stuck at 1 space for the span of 6 episodes, regardless of the timeline being over 2 weeks or 2 months.
If they can't move from the farm because the episodes are only 1 day long each...then that's the writers fault for making them that way. They could easily have incapsulated Carl's recovery, Herschel's family, the daughter likes Glenn, and finally the killing of the barnfolk and the missing girl in 2 or 3 episodes and then had the overall story move on.
They didn't hang out with the Mexican gangsters for 6 episodes.
Almost seems like they are doing this because the farm setting was affordable to shoot at.

I know one thing: I will never watch Doctor Who or Walking Dead with Prog.
EXACTLY!
Looks like we lost you again... Why would they want to move if they found a safe place??? The whole point of them leaving the hillside camp was to go to the CDC which is where they would have stayed indefinitely if it wasn't going to blow up in a couple hours. Then they find Herschel's farm by accident which is another safe haven. Why would they want to leave??? It makes no sense. Are you suggesting to dumb down the characters and their motivations and the overall writing of the series to satisfy a change of scenery?? Not a show I would want to watch if they insult the viewers intelligence like that.
Are you being thick on purpose? These are CHARACTERS. They do what the writer writes into the script. Do you find watching the show turn into the Waltons? Is that what you want to watch is them sipping coffee on the porch swing saying "boy its grand here, I hope we never leave" just because thats what the characters would do?
The writers don't need to show us 6 episodes worth of that. No show outside of 24 shows everything a character is doing 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Whats wrong with having the unseen action encompass a week or 2 and involve the VIEWERS in only the important elements of the story?
Just because real life versions of characters on the show would stay on the farm for 20 years if they wanted doesn't mean the viewers should be subjected to it...that's retarded.
Right back at ya!
Thanks for playing. Be sure to pick up your consolation prize at the door.
You have to admit, "why would the characters want to leave the farm in 7 days" is a pretty silly excuse for them wasting all 6 episodes of the season to show us just those 7 days.
If you want 1 episode to equal 1 day, you are going to be waiting 30 years at 12 episodes a year to see just 1 year worth of their life... How do you possibly cope with missing the other 23h15m of the day that they can't fit in the 45m show?
