Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I really enjoyed this show and found myself during the scene when
Rick wakes up in the hospital and is going down the dark stairs ready to get up and leave the room. That was when I realized this was really good. I thought for sure he was going to get attacked during that scene but the fact the he didn't made the affect better because I'm sure everybody assumed he was going to run into something and that had everybody (I'm sure) on edge.
Can't wait to see episode 2. Its nice to have a show this good to look forward to each week.

I too was on the edge of my seat thinking the same thing:gah:
I just finish watching the first episode I will be tuning in for the second episode.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The wife getting together with the friend/coworker was a bit expected, and I hate those friend getting the wife because they think he's dead or whatever storylines (Robinson Crusoe, Count of Monte Cristo, etc). I don't think a show with a zombie apocalypse really needs that other drama device. Thats my only complaint.

So guys, is there a way to watch the pilot online for free and legally?

I thought for sure Hulu.com would have it, but they don't and I'm not gonna pay $3.99 to download it from Itunes...

I believe the comic had the same plot.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

not a fan of that story line all the same.

Unless it's important later in the story, I agree that it's not really needed.

I read the Jaws novel years ago. Spielberg left out the affair Richard Dreyfuss's character had with Roy Scheider's wife. Didn't need it in the book, so it wasn't missed in the movie.

That twist (and I haven't read the graphic novels) was far too expected and I too find it cringeworthy--- everything else was spot on fantastic and everything a zombie-story should be. Loved it! I'll have to watch the tanl scene again though as to pick out Irish.

Yeah, I read the first 4 or 5 TBPs, and no surprises so far.

That is actually one of the more interesting and important storylines in the comic, so I'm glad they kept it in. But yeah, the comics are extremely derivative. Starting with the guy waking up in the hospital and discovering a world gone to hell, 28 Days Later-style.

WTF? LOL I never heard of that! That would have been a major blow to the movie IMO. That would be like turning Legolas into Arwen's lover after he falls from the cliff.

I can't wait to get more details on where the people are at who got Rick's call on the CB. I can't imagine living in tents with zombies running around, that adds to the scarry feel even more.

I'm not a rabid Zombie freak, but really enjoyed the premier. You knew from the get go this was going to be good when the little girl gets served with the Magnum.:horror

My favorite moments were the half zombie in the park were you get a sense of sympathy and pain, and it comes full circle when Rick comes back to the park towards the end. Seeing the Zombie slowly seemingly painfully crawl with each grasp. The humanity Rick showed by putting it out of it's misery really was poignant, and not just your cookie cutter kill' em all Zombie story.

It was a logical progression. His partner saved his wife and son. It also sets up the perfect foil for Rick.

Bottom line, more conflict=more drama. I vote 'more'.

Not to get too meta physical but is the soul even in that husk or is the body taken over by the virus with the persons personality over written by the virus and hijacked so to speak with the soul in the passenger seat?
Or does the body actually die first and give up the ghost and the virus has the body on automatic with its ghastly new compulsions?

That would make a difference in how one would feel about blowing their heads off..... (a little)

Thats what fascinates me about Zombie stories.
I hope the series delves deeper into that stuff rather than just run and gun all the time.
What bugged me was the deputies lack of curiosity on what exactly what went down while he was out of it.

Wasnt he screwing around with his partners wife before the outbreak?
Thats the vibe I got.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

:lol Actually, toward the end of the last shot (when we're crawling onto the tank and the camera is pulling up) I start fighting with another zombie, we fall off the tank and then both walk over to the mob around the horse. I never got to it while we were shooting (thought it WAS a free-for-all) but I did take a piece of the ribcage home with me. :monkey1

Mmmmmm.....ribs! :drool

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I just set up the first episode to record Wednesday... this sounds interesting.

Zombie drama or cheating wife drama? I vote zombie drama. You can get your soap opera drama on CBS daytime. I just don't think the lead character needs a human foil when theres enough zombie killing to go around?

Are they setting up the series for the lead to get all battle hardened by killing 1000s of zombies so he's finally man enough to take on Ponch?
